One of the most hurtful things for the woman about the media circus surrounding the case, the cousin said, is the tendency to assume the worst about her because she is a stripper.

Abrams asked AV supporter Susan whether the charges would be dismissed and she came up with two scenarios:
1. That Nifong will say that he believes there was a rape, but he doesn't have the evidence to prove it; or
2. That the AV will decide not to pursue it because she can't withstand the scruntiny.
I am really paraphasing.
No new info was discussed on Abrams....just a re-hash of everything we already know...This Susan woman is still convinced they raped her and another lawyer named Yale said if Reade did rape her the DA would have to move the timeline up 20mins...which they can't........Susan als said that the only way this stops is that the AV tells the DA she's had enough and won't testify at trial....but it won't exonerate the boys..
This wasn't planned. She was drunk/high on drugs and on her was to the drunk tank, and didn't want to go, so she said she was raped; not knowing that her story would gain so much attention and then get caught in a web of lies.
If the DA had done his job, or better yet, let the cops do theirs; we wouldn't have even heard abot this case.
Of course the lying stripper doesn't plan to do anything until SOMEBODY pays her off.
I don't think any reporter could ask Kim that. Those interviews by Rita and Rucks (?) were restricted by Kim's attorney.

One thing Susan said bothered me because I'm beginning to hear it said often - that the accuser at some point may feel the "pressure is just so much she can't appear as a witness" and Nifong may drop the case. I hope the arrested guys will have some way of proving their innocence if that happens, but I'm not sure what venue, other than a trial. would provide the opportunity.
I believe this is coming. She and the town (who's on her side) KNOWS she cannot withstand the coming onslought of trial lawyers. Her story will be destroyed in one half day in court.
And, Durham doesnt' want to be in a position to explain why they're not prosecuting her for the false allegations. Even if a vidoecam was 'on' in the bathroom showing no rape, she will be off-the-hook on charges.

Rita Cosby's interview of the cab driver was outrageous. One of the asinine questions she asked the cabbie was, "Did it look like [at the house] a rape had occurred?" (by the way, the cabbie answered that question, "No, no, not."
Some good news---Reade's brothers kicked butt in a lacrosse game yesterday. Someone should be held accountable for the pain and suffering this stripper has caused.
What looks better for the media....a race riot or little rich kids behind bars because they supposedly attacked a black stripper. Are these boys that desparate....me thinks not.

And if she does try to drop it, you just know how that's going to be protrayed by the media.
Put yourself in Mangums shoes (I know, I know). If this goes to trial, she will go down in flames - there is no other ending. I see her claiming that she is afraid, or what ever, and they drop all charges. The boys get out of any legal trouble but don't get to clear their names and all the feminazis still get to claim them guilty. Mangum gets off with no charges and maybe even file a civil suit a la Kobe. It's just ugly.
Each time they change their story is a point of impeachment for the defense. I've torn people apart for screwing up things like this before.

I certainly wish you well. I don't know how many career changes I made, lost count. Now I've finally found a "gift" and *could* possibly really be successful. If I were younger. Now, I don't know. I do photography, and I can't kneel and zip around like you need to be able to do any more. But an old neighbor who once had everything I wanted, looks, handsome golf pro husband, beautiful home, furniture to fill it (she earned it working as a Home Interiors manager), younger than me, is in a nursing home after having suffered an aneurysm.
Life is really strange. Most days I just count my blessings. For some reason the last couple of days haven't been so good so it is hard to do that.
Question--
If the AV drops her claim, can the Duke boys sue the DA for false arrest? Defamation of character? Something? Anything?
In her white shoes? In March? Not me!
