AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 1912) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | April 17, 2006 | All of Us

Posted on 04/17/2006 2:26:45 AM PDT by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!

Good morning!!

Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

China has now surpassed Britain as the world's fourth largest economy.

That comes at a price--pollution. According to the Chinese Government's own numbers, there are only 53 "blue sky" days a year in Beijing. The Government had set a target of 230 days a year by the 2008 Olympics.

The Danube River in Europe has reached record flood levels, brought on by the melting of something you may not have heard about in all the global warming screaming--a particularly harsh Balkan winter.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

Yes, Easter is my fave, for a lot of reasons...

LB, in effect Barone says the Rs will retain control because they turn out the vote better...It's an old rule still in play, he argues...

the link works for me, so don't know why you can't get it...

Off to errands and some quilting with my friends...

Will be back today, but later...

Good morning everybody, thanks for the links Molly.

Hope everybody had a wonderful Easter. We had a very nice day despite missing daughter (first major holiday spent without her).

Anyway some folks invited us to church with them and it was very nice to attend a real chuch with children present instead of just a park chapel service. The discussion turned to politics on the way home and we were delighted to find them conservatives.

We attended a potluck in the afternoon with about 18 others and afterward played board games and cards.

NASA scientist James Hansen, profiled by the New York Times, "60 Minutes" and other media titans as a renowned scientist with unassailable credibility on the issue of "global warming" and a victim of White House censorship, is actually a loose cannon at NASA who lied about the alleged censorship, according to one of Hansen's former colleagues as well as a current co-worker.

We had a nice Easter as well...

..The pastor did a splendid sermon!...and the music was uplifting!

Church had many visitors and afterwards we had refreshments and ....the little kids had a small Easter Egg hunt.

We brought my Dad & invited our neighbor...a spry, very nice gentleman of....92!

We all went out to eat afterwards, including daughter, sil, and granddaughter.

Emily was adorable in her long pink Easter dress with the little pocketbook Grammie (that's me) bought her.

She didn't know what to do during the Easter egg hunt...(which Grampa videotaped, of course)...

..so she sat down in the middle of the grass and kept taking the eggs out of the basket as soon as her mommy put them in :))

She didn't know what to do during the Easter egg hunt...(

She'll have it all figured out by next year ;^)

Getting buried in work here, best get to it. Have a great day everybody, I'll try to check back later.

I love hearig the stories of your granddaughters ... I sit here just a grinnin' as I try to imagine that my own pair of toddler granddaughters are doing the same sorts of things. Cherish this opportunity to watch them learn and grow. It is precious, indeed!

As for memories ... my MIL has always amazed me by some of the types of things she can remember. She can tell you in a heartbeat when they had the roof replaced or put in a new heating system or got the carpet. Stuff like "They didn't show up until 9:15 and it was hot so by 10:30 I offered them some ice water" ... and this was in 1956.

There are only certain types of things that she recalls in such detail.

As for me ~~~ my memory is really strange. I can pull phone numbers I haven't used in 25 years out of the air ... and yet have to stop and think to remember my children's birth years ... LOL!

I can't remember what I was doing a week ago tomorrow. Honest.

However, I can remember all the words to Teen Angel, Little Duce Coop and Unchained Melody. Go figure!

I am closing out the computer and am ready to depart on my roadtrip. I'll see you when I reach my undisclosed destination. :>)

Yes, but is it secure?

Any guesses on this upcoming hurricane seasons severity or lack thereof? I trust your judgement as much or more than the "experts" out there....

Right now it appears to be shaping up to be another very active year, though current trends would suggest slightly less than last year.

Gary Pucket.. the "Whoop Whoop" guy from Hee Haw was on the Paint Valley Jamboree last week end. Gary was opening for Jerry Lee Lewis when Buck Owens saw him and got him hired for Hee Haw. He was a guest on Hee Haw thirty some times over 5 years. A very nice guy. He started on the Jamboree back in the 1960s and stops by from time to time to perform.

I asked not to have to follow him so they put me on right after John Mullinex who was a featured singer on NBC TV's Midwestern Hay Ride show for five years. I was introduced over the tail end of John's applause so I walked out on stage and said. "So I get to follow John....Oohh Kaaay!!! I now know what the fat ugly girl at the Miss America contest feels like." I got a good laugh and when I started my first song I got a lot of applause. Felt good. My three granddaughters were in the audience so I ended my set with my "Little Girl" song for them. Ralph, Todd, Luke and Walt had worked out some great backup for me ... It went over quite well.

The Jamboree draws a good crowd every week. There is a 20 minute intermission in the middle of the show.. and I work the crowd every week. I hear no political talk at all. There are few if any complaints about the economy or the war. Mostly people talk about what they are doing or where they are going.. or people we both know. It does not feel like a year for poltical change.

This week I get to be the featured singer at the Jamboree. It should be fun.

Are you doing any gigs?

Lysie, dear. I need your help.

Can you or someone else who reads this thread please help me recall the name of the motorcycle group who runs interference when the Dipwads protest at miliatary funerals?

Without going into a lot of detail, let me say that a friend of mine has just faxed me a notice posted by a Baptist organization in Kansas who are organizing a protest at the funeral of one of Iowa's fallen heros tomorrow.

I would like to be able to put my friend in contact with the people who do the counter protest.

This is urgent. We have less than 24 hrs to get the word out. TIA

Encouraging news about your sense of the audience's non-political priorities. Thanks for the comments on the other thread too, I enjoyed reading them.

We are invited tomorrow night to play at a "watch the sunset" party. In the meantime I've managed to somehow cut a left hand finger and although the cut is small the darned thing is Sore! So I'm hoping it will heal up some more by tomorrow, otherwise we will be doing a few abbreviated numbers and calling it good.

We haven't played much music lately, busy in other endeavors. Also our picker friends have all headed north for the summer and we miss them.

My callouses are thin again.
