At http://www.no-lobbyists-as-such.com/florian-mueller-blog/ballmer-linux/ we're reminded that Microsoft wants Linux dead. Ballmer is once again making noise about patents.
Unfortunately, Microsoft likely does have patents it could use against Linux. IBM can probably be replied upon to fight back on the side of Linux with its own patents - supposedly they've called Microsoft patent bluffs in the past just by pointing out that they also have stacks of patents and idle lawyers ready to look for violations by Windows code. However, Microsoft might now be willing to risk the battle.
Microsoft is not in a happy place right now. Vista is delayed, and both Apple and Linux are gnawing at its toes. The increasing interest in virtualization and particularly in package/OS bundling like VMware Player is a bumpy road for Microsoft because of OS licensing. Microsoft doesn't want its OS sales pirated, but it doesn't want to miss out on that market either. Linux apps can be shipped with a free OS; Microsoft apps cannot.

Hardly. He may believe what he wants to believe...that's fine.
But I won't remain silent when he disrupts threads, completely uninvited, starts labeling people as commuists, calling them whackos, etc., then claims that we're ramming things down his throat.
Most of the time, he enters Linux threads where things are going peacefully, and people are talking, and even disagreeing respectfully about various points of the conversatiion. And then, he starts lying about everything and everyone, misrepresenting peoples position and making up "facts".
I'm not a GE stalker. It's just that he happens to hang out on all the Linux threads where I like to post, and for someone who claims that he's sick of people pushing Linux on him, he sure doesn't miss too many of them (and most of the time, he finds them before I do...it's gotten so ridiculous, that some posters now brag about being "INB4GE" -- in before Golden Eagle).

When you make accusations without proof, and in fact, stubbornly REFUSE to provide proof while repeating the accusations, that's called harrassment. You've done it a zillion times. I can document these (in addition to what is already on the lie list) if you want.

Easy to say, hard to prove. Find a quote where I defended Stallman. You can't, you never could, you never will. Character assasination is easier than fact finding, I guess.

Again, present one specific post that proves I defended Stallman, said IBM was deploying Linux, said Google was making an OS, etc. Just one.
Sorry this happened to your first (good) post, but I figure it will happen again if you post on the tech threads, especially if it's anything positive about Linux.

There are times when we can chat without him...he took a month long hiatus earlier this year (right after Christmas) and it was positively nice around here. People still disagreed, but no one got hateful. "Reasoned, reasonable debate" was the best way to describe it. I really enjoyed the discussions here and learning about Linux during that time.
Please hang in there, at least until his next absence.
