"....Marital disharmony in America could be eased overnight by a little machine that would sit next to cash registers at every retailer. It would authorize not only your credit-card limit, but also your "spousal authorization amount."

That would be the maximum dollar figure you are permitted to spend without informing your spouse. Each couple would determine its own limits in advance, a giant bureaucratic agency would be informed, and countless money battles and divorces could be avoided.

That's all wishful thinking, of course. Even if such a gadget were to be built, millions of couples would abhor it, because they're addicted to surreptitious spending. Surveys show that up to half of all couples admit that they commit "financial infidelity" -- lying to spouses about expenditures they've made. At the same time, financial and marital advisers say that a touch of secret purchasing can be healthy and liberating for a marriage.

Especially if the secret purchase is a new gidget or gadget for the spouse. I know how that works. ;-)

You're single, right?

Apparently Cindy Sheebat had quite a good time at a speech in Berkley. She recounts several of her experiences in Venezuela, says US tortures people and commits crimes against humanity. She also enjoyed a translation mistake that called for the exeuction of the POTUS.

Another funny thing happened to me when I was in Venezuela. I didn't know it 'til I had left Venezuela, but I was giving this speech in front of over a hundred thousand people. I couldn't even see the end of the people, and I was being translated into Spanish. So, at the end of, end of the speech I said, "We all have to join together and George Bush has to be impeached." A huge, huge cheer from the crowd. They really liked that idea. And I said that, "After he's impeached, he has to be removed from office." They loved that idea. They just went crazy for that idea. And then I said, "But we can't stop there. To be held accountable, he has to be tried for war crimes." And [clapping] they went nuts. They just went nuts about "tried for war crimes." And like, "Wow, they really want him to be tried for war crimes." But then when I was leaving, I was in the airport, someone ran up to me and she: "Cindy, Cindy, I have to tell you: I speak Spanish and English." And I'm like, "Oh, that's nice." And she said, she said, "When you were giving, giving your speech at the opening rally, when you said he had to be tried for war crimes, your translator said, 'He has to be executed!'" [Laughter and cheers.] And I wondered why they were so excited about that. [Laughter.] So whenever I go anywhere now that has to be translated I say right up front, "I'm a pacifist. I don't believe in the death penalty, even for mass murderers." [Applause.]

Lots of other disgusting stuff she said at the link, also the commie ties to the organizations she belongs to. Which we knew. From the link: Only in Berkeley is Cindy Sheehan attacked by people to the left of her politically.

Hi everybody, posting and running today. Prayers for all who need them.

I'm back home, complete with a few more stitches. All went well but I'm just a little shaky right now. No problems, though ... :-)

prairie ~~~ I had a mole removed from my leg last week and a punch biopsy done on another one. The one that was cut out was fine but the punch biopsy indicated "moderate to severe atypia" ... which translates to that area being one step short of melanoma. So I had to go back today to have that one fully excised.

Molly ~~~ it's amazing to me how little pain there is from this procedure. I've had a lot more discomfort from paper cuts or hang nails that these one-inch incisions. Even when I had the melanoma before and got the 4-inch incision on my back, there was barely any pain.

Now the shots to deaden the area for the surgery are a different matter. Once that part is over, it's a piece of cake ... :-)

Care instructions are easy -- wait 24 hours, then start changing the band-aid twice a day, putting Bacitracin on the wound.
