Taylor's song choices present an interesting paradox. Those that have heard his version of "Georgia On My Mind" are usually blown away by the performance: the vocals, the guitar and the harmonica. Yet when he sings a slow song on the show, people don't like it because he's not dancing like a drunk guy at a wedding. Many Soul Patrolers have begged for him to sing Georgia. What will the reaction be if he keeps the mic in the stand and just sings?

THAT'S how you market Taylor. He will be what hasn't been done before. FWIW, back in the bad ol' days of Rock and Roll, that's exactly what music was about...having a good time and expressing one's emotions and talent.
Taylor should do it up like Elvis. Simon would go nuts, Paula would beg for his sperm, and Randy would laugh his head off.

I totally go through withdrawals. I try not to think what I am going to do when the season ends. I think I get more excited about the thread then the actual show.

Flea'd from MJ's Big Blog who flea'd it from TWOP boards:
1. Paris-- Kiss (Prince) and Without You (Mary J. Blige).
2. Kat-- Against All Odds (Phil Collins) and Black Horse and Cherry Tree (KT Tunstall)
3. Taylor-- Play that Funky Music (Wild Cherry) and Something (Beatles - George Harrison wrote this one)
4. Elliot-- On Broadway (George Benson) and Home (Micheal Buble)
5. Chris-- Renegade (Styx) and "I Dare You" (Shinedown)
Love Taylor's and Chris's choices if true.

I totally agree with you both. He'd have to do something really, really, really horrible for me not to vote for him this week. Like kick a puppy live on stage or say that he voted for Kerry.
I'm texting, so no busy signals. Unless I do it wrong which is a complete possibility. :-D

What about a different set of props like holding a mic and sitting on a bench and then slowly standing up during the climactic portions of the song ?

A lot in common with the earlier spoiler, except for Chris. Wonder which (if either) is right?

Something (Beatles - George Harrison wrote this one)
The Beatles don't usually allow their songs to be cleared but since this is a George Harrison song, it might be an exception.
I know for a fact that at least 3 Beatle or individual songs have been performed in AI.
Season 2 saw Clay Aiken perform HERE THERE AND EVERYWHERE with a harp as background.
Season 3 saw Jennifer Hudson performing IMAGINE ( John Lennon ).
Season 4 saw Nadia Turner perform Paul McCartney's MY LOVE ( he was with his group WINGS then ).
SOMETHING is a song which you can put your own unique, individual spin and it could be good or bad depending on your version. Heck even Frank Sinatra did the song.

Probably already posted, since I am new to this thread, but I just discovered one can order shirts and support Elliott directly.
The info is at Everything Elliott and easy to find, or you can email JENNYCOPYCAT@AOL.COM.
I just ordered three. Diabetes is expensive, especially the tubing, etc. needed to keep that insulin pump running.

I need a clarification: from the AI website:
Tonight, the remaining contestants will sing 2 songs one from the year of their birth one from this weeks Billboards Top 10 charts.
This is an awfully narrow list. I have read an interpretation that this is a "this week in history" and that they can sing any song on the Billboard Top 10 during the week of 5/2 from ANY YEAR. Anyone know the exact interpretation?

You can also watch the dance show for the summer...I cannot even believe they are bringing the dance show back. I couldn't even force myself to watch it. The should show it to the prisioners at Abu Garib or Gitmo to get them to talk. "Please!! I will tell you ANYTHING!! Just please shut it off!!!!"

I actually enjoyed it... my biggest difficulty is that unlike a singing competition that I actually know what to listen for, I have a hard time knowing what I'm supposed to be watching for from the dancers.

from this weeks Billboards Top 10 charts.
I may be getting old in my late 30's, but I haven't found much worth listening to for several years now in the current crop of Billboard top 10 songs.
Is it any surprise that most people found GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK NIGHT to be the most enjoyable and entertaining theme this season ?
You have to filter out a whole heap of hip hop and rap just to get to the songs that are worth singing today ( unless they allow rap in the show ). Is anyone going to perform the 2006 OSCAR WINNING song -- IT's HARD OUT THERE FOR A PIMP ? /sarc
I expect the YEAR YOU WERE BORN part of the show to be more interesting than the BILLBOARD TOP 10 part of the show.
To: retrokitten
Simon just wants the pretty girl with big boobs to win, that's easy to market. Don't get me wrong, I like Kat.
I will be voting for Tay-Tay and for Elliott this evening even if they stink up the stage. I think Taylor deserves a fair shot and so does my beloved Elliott. I will truly bawl my eyes out when Elliott goes. But, God is gracious, he's still got a chance at this thing.
To: kevkrom
I actually enjoyed it but had the exact same problem. I would look at my wife and say, "I enjoyed that." And then the judges would rip them for having their shoulders too high/low and their eyebrows too pointed or something like that...
To: conservativebabe
How fabulous would it be if Elliot won? More then anyone he's what we all imagine an American Idol to be, IMO. Deaf in one ear, diabetic, no training, surprising even his own family with his God given talent, and a total underdog.

Your post brought tears to my eyes. I am such a sap. But, you're right, it would be truly satisfying to see him win. I sincerely hope that he will get some kind of offers out of this.
