AI5 Royal Flush: The Heir and Four Spares
by Terrie Rosas (2006/05/01)
Rumored songs. Found this posted elsewhere:
Quote:I found this on the AI message board. Before I could even respond it had been deleted. Apparently it's from a daughter of stage manager. Something like that.Katharine-"Against All Odds" and "Black Horse and a Cherry Tree"
Elliott-"On Broadway" and "Save The Last Dance For Me"
Taylor-"Play That Funky Music" and "Who Says You Can't Go Home"
Paris- "Kiss" and "SOS"
Chris- "I Want You To Want Me" and "Right Here"
They look pretty reliable to me....since they include a lot of the confirmed songs already.
They do look feasible. jmo
I like this choice for Taylor. It will be a great performance. I have also seen that he might be singing Billy Joel's New York State of Mind. Great vocal song but the microphone would stay on the stand. Then again, it will for Georgia On My Mind as well.....
Awwwww yeeeeeeah.... Tay-Tay gonna rock it out!
I think I just channeled Randy Jackson for a second there. :-D
Is that the new nickname for Taylor, tay tay? Or just your own affectionate one?
LOL!!!
No, I think the Vote For the Worst people made it up. I just stole it.
That WILL be a good song choice for Taylor. You know, Simon is being disingenuous when he says stuff like that to Taylor.
Okay, I love Kellie Clarkson, I love Carrie Underwood, then we had Ruben and Fantasia. The genre that Taylor comes from could be given new life, new exposure. I think people are thirsty for something different.
THAT'S how you market Taylor. He will be what hasn't been done before.
I'm not sure I like Kat's and Elliott's YEAR YOU WERE BORN song choices ( Kat-- AGAINST ALL ODDS. Elliott -- ON BROADWAY ).
Both have been performed to death in the past seasons. Scott Savol performed BOTH songs last season and I think On Broadway was his Swan Song. George Huff did Against All Odds in Movie Night on Season 3. George Benson re-performed ON BROADWAY with Scott and Nikko Smith in the finals night last season.
Both songs are pleasant to the ear but do little to showcase vocal power or range.
Hey, knight, I said the same thing in a post up yonder. I am voting for Taylor this week, regardless. I don't like the way he's being screwed by AI. It goes against most people' sense of fairness, to force him to switch songs at the last minute, while the others have the benefit of a whole week of rehearsing their song choice.
I like Elliott and Paris, but this is Taylor's week to get the most votes, and it's Kat's week to go home.
I'm going to use two phones, too, so if retrokitten gets busy signals...it's my fault. ;p
Tay Tay has been around for quite a while on the Hicks fan sites. I think its a play on his cousin Ray Ray. lol
Like I said those are rumors. They could be way off for all we know. I do hope Taylor kicks some butt this week. :)
She left her matronly duds behind and donned a cleavage-baring, figure-hugging halter dress so tight that some thigh-high buttons popped, revealing her Fruit of the Loins. Unsurprisingly, since Tuesday there has been an outbreak of McPheever on AI-inspired message boards. ......
I believe this line in SirLinks article is describing you. :)
I hope Elliott and Taylor both knock the heck out of their competition.
no - not randy....he really really gets on my last nerve....and am i the only one who goes through withdrawal between wednesday and tuesday of each week!!!???? what the hell am I going to do from May 2006 to jan 2007????? i think i need rehab!
American Idol: Say goodbye to Paris Bennett

Around about this time, the realization starts to set in for most people - ONE winner, four LOSERS. Its not that this one is bad, its just that they all cant win. And with that said, say goodbye to Paris Bennett.
With vastly more talent than Chicken Little, it was a given that shed sail into this rarified air; but when were up here with the finalists, its pretty much inevitable that the low-hanging fruit is the cute little adolescent with the excellent voice but limited expertise.
In three years, perhaps, Paris could rule this contest without getting up in the morning. But right now, theres simply no way she fits the mold of American Idol, so shes gone eventually as a stone cold fact. Why this week? Because, its either the low-hanging fruit of the obvious or somebody who pretty much fills the bill.
Sure - somebody could screw up monumentally. I dont claim to be psychic. But, seems to me weve got a few archetypes thatll have to knock-down drag out between niches, and that leaves Paris out in the cold.
Chris - Has the rocker vote, and (with the exit of Keith Partridge) most of the women vote as well.
Taylor - Has the indie vote along with the remainder of the women.
Katharine - Has the horney man-boy vote.
Elliott - Has the old folks who tune in from reruns of The Lawrence Welk Show to hear the nice boy sing a pretty tune.
Paris, on the other hand, simply doesnt have an identity beyond that cute little kid. Oooh - look - she dressed up all country for country day! Look at that dress - its like shes going to the junior prom.. The kid has to rack some years up before she can really do what she needs to in order to win this kind of public crapshoot - she has to be able to hammer in a perception of herself.
At the moment, shes the zebra away from the herd - the easy target. And as the contest ramps up to hard decisions, the easy target is always going to go first.
>>>Elliott - Has the old folks who tune in from reruns of The Lawrence Welk Show to hear the nice boy sing a pretty tune.<<<
HEY! I resemble that remark!
Here I thought it was just me.
