Glenn Beck talked a bit about Idol today on his show. He was floored that Mandisa (or Mandiesel as he called her) was voted off. He said that in spite the fact that she has a huge gigantic butt, she seemed to be a really nice person and had a good voice. Glenn even said that of ALL the contestants left, Mandisa was the only one he'd trust with his kids! LOL

He also said he was starting to grow tired of this years show. He was "really into it" at first but it's losing it's "hold" on him. Sidekick Stu said it was because it's that boring "weeding out" period between the top 12 and the final 3.

Personally, I haven't been impressed at what they've picked as theme nights.
OK....50's night was a good "general theme" same with "country" but Stevie Wonder night? Queen night?? Come on! They need to stick with more versatile themes where most of the contestants have a good choice of songs. I mean, how many Queen or Stevie Wonder songs are there?

Last thoughts: I still think they should vote people "off" during the first several weeks instead of voting for your "favorite." The way they do it now, you have to split your vote between several of your "favs" or who you "don't want to get voted off."
If we could vote people "off," people like Mandisa would still be there long after people like Bucky, Ace, and Paris are long gone.

I would pay top dollar to see and hear Mandisa reprise the Nell Carter role in the next Broadway revival of "Ain't Misbehavin"!

I loved Mandisa's voice and her verve, but she was miscast as an American Idol.

It would be too easy to gang up on a particular contestant, which is why I think they do it the way they do. I would agree though with the season getting boring. Moreso than other years.

Tony, they could give the show some OOMPH by doing Drag Queen night. Ace could do Cher; Elliott could do Judy Garland; Chris could do Madonna; Taylor could do Bea Arthur; Bucky could do Jessica Simpson, and the girls could all do KD Lang.

So the naive, poor little backwoods girl who doesn't know saLmon and calaMAri has been paying $300 for her haircuts for "a few years." Gag!

We know Pickler went to her prom, or at least thats what the pic says she was dressed up for. But, that makes it more odd that she acts like she wasn't aware that the L in salmon is silent. We learned that IN SCHOOL, quite early on in fact.

Here's the thing about Taylor, IMO. I don't see him gaining many more fans week after week. People either love Taylor or hate Taylor.

I think you're right.

She should be. :) SirLinksAlot has posted some good interviews with Paul Finebaum and Taylor and his dad. Scroll backwards to find them. They are worth it. :)

I noticed how pretty Kellie's hair looked pulled up last evening. It gave her a little class.

I think Kellie has been picked to be this year's "sleeper", who will "improve" so much in just a few weeks that the audience will be amazed.

I may be getting cynical, but I think Kellie's Pygmalion-like transformation has been very carefully planned and choreographed.

And Katharine will want to claw Kellie's eyes out when Kellie makes top three, and McPhee goes home.

Actually, I think what AI needs to do is constantly be trying to get approval for more and more songs so that the contestants aren't forced to sing songs that they don't like, or sing songs that get sung every year.

Since they had a country night, maybe they should have a jazz night, a soul night, a R&B night, an alt rock night, a top 40 night, a gospel night etc.

Stevie Wonder night is getting old and as much as I think Manilow did try and succeed in helping them to a degree, every year is a bit much. imo

The show is good for promotion and that goes for bigger names as well. Hopefully we will start seeing some of that in the future.

Could have been. But if the whole audience is singing because they love your song, seems to me you would be happy about it and not such an idiot. THe in-laws can't stand him anymore. :) Can't say I blame them. :)

I can't either :)

I would think Kenny has done enough shows that he knows people are going to sing along to some of his songs ... So I don't understand his attitude or why he didn't arrange the sound so he could be heard over the crowd. He looks like a jerk either way.

I slept through my alarm twice this week and I am a very, very light sleeper.

It's the time change probably. I love the extra daylight, but hate losing that hour of sleep :-/

I heard a little of Glenn, but only the part where Mandisa's former beau called in. He was funny. I agree with Glenn about her being the one you can trust your children with.

I love Rush, but Glenn is slowly becoming the one I hate to miss. He is so fun to listen to.

As for the three women who did win AI, Pickle is so far removed from them in talent that it's like Minnie Mouse trying to measure up to the young Judy Garland

LOL :)

It was strange seeing Kenny on that stage last night. He looked so small...his voice sounded so weak. I thought, if he were just starting out, and competing with the AI kids tinight, he would be the one going home.

Also, his "new" song was the most boring cliched country song I ever heard. "I can't unlove you, I can't untouch you, and I can't undo this damned plastic surgery!"

HAHAHA I almost called him a has been, but he does have a few more good years in him I guess. He certainly isn't at the top of his game anymore. I wish they had gotten a better representative for country night.

FOX TV has given Lisa Tucker a soft landing. She's going to be on their show The OC later this month

And she'll probably help The OC--I think their ratings are slipping.
