If your going to shoot, shoot to kill. The officer should have killed the dog, not wounded it. What the heck were they thinking?

Good thing it's dead. There's a guy, Cesar Millan, who can rehabilitate most throwaway dogs, but man... that's bad. I don't know if he could even fix that one.

You can't "Switch Off" a Pit-Bull once he,or she goes into Attack Mode. Voice commands have no effect. owners can kick them beat them with sticks,hose them down with garden hoses. The attack will continue until either the dog,or the maulee stops moving. I have seen one of these attacks in my life time.

Don't tell me that Pit-Bulls are just like any other dog you just have to know how to handle them. BullShit.

Here in the San Francisco bay area one sometimes reads about pit bulls kept by gang members. These young men keep their un-neutered pit bulls on a very tight leash, literally. These young men seem strong enough to control said dog. I used to see them at Fort Funston (off-leash hilly, sandy, beach area, one of God's more beautiful parks) every once in a while. There was usually two or three mean lookin' men and one VERY mean lookin' pit bull. Very tight leash. Beautiful, well-kept dogs.

They use the dogs for protection. They let them roam their environs or territory and woe betide any innocent child who gets in the way.

Also, some use them as entertainment, to fight OTHER pit bulls...and they gamble on the outcome. Cockfighting, only with pit bulls against each other. I never saw any of those dogs...they would have had some scars. The ones I saw were VERY well-kept dogs.

I agree with many people who are pointing out that these attacks are really the fault of the owners more than the dogs.

Since, unfortunately, we are not allowed to shoot the lowlife owners, I'll try to be satisfied with the extermination of the beasts, which I view with the same irrational hostility as I have for rattlesnakes.

Oh Boy! A pit bull thread!

I love to shoot pit bulls. Nothing like Big Game Hunting in the city.

I've found that my .12 Gauge Remington works best. Only one time did I have to shoot a pit bull twice with that. First one hit him broad side and rolled him over. He got right up and started at me. Second shot was center chest and he dropped immediately.

I saw a pit bull get hit with a .45 above the right eye and keep coming. A few more put it down.

Just depends where you hit them.
