"So the officer did shoot the dog."If your going to shoot, shoot to kill. The officer should have killed the dog, not wounded it. What the heck were they thinking?

I shot a Pit Bull that had attacked a neighbor's Beagle. A crowd had assembled, ( twenty people, all with cellphones ). I was limited somewhat in my shot placement, (not wanting to hit gawkers or the Beagle).
I hit the dog with three rounds from my .357, (middle of his back) . I suppose I should have kept firing. Anyways, I got the Pit Bull to drop the Beagle. Another neighbor, ( a off duty cop), ventilated the Pit Bull with seven 9mm rounds, ( through his ribcage/lungs ). The dog was dead within a matter of a minute or two after that.

They should have shot the owner next...or ripped her face off.

The PD in my city are ignorant of weaponry. The 'girls' behind the gun registration counter do know firearms though.

If your going to shoot, shoot to kill. The officer should have killed the dog, not wounded it. What the heck were they thinking? The odds are he probably was shooting to kill. It just did not happen. It is not easy to hit a moving target.
