If you want a good free antivirus program, try AVG.
If you want a good free software firewall, try ZoneAlarmI use use both and I like 'em

I agree. I gave up on Norton over a year ago. It became to bloated and caused to many problems. AVG is much better.

I have Windows Firewall (but I've turned it off too).
I haven't tried another firewall until I'm sure I can get on secure sites (like my yahoo email, ebay, my bank account etc!!!) :)

Interesting you should mention that,
It won't let me delete one Norton thingie....
It keeps threatening me (if a computer can do that)
and saying that "Some programs may not work if you delete this!"
Well hell, I can't get to my checking account, so I'm not too worried.

Yep, I'll have to buy another lottery ticket next week. Maybe I'll win and be able to retire early. If I can retire early, I can move somewhere with fewer people.
Have you read anything interesting this week?

I use both and I like 'em ..if a person is on a tight budget, these are very good. We always tell students about those products among others.

All right then more info means new things to check. Assuming you removed all Norton programs with Windows add/remove programs then we need to check the Windows firewall and see if it is now activated and what its setting are. If you just deleted Norton files without using add/remove programs you will need to reload expired copu of nortons and then delete it.AWB

There's no telling. Wouldn't FR just not be the same place?

I hear that Heather Locklear is on the market now too.
To: pcottraux
That's true.
And I would not have the many wonderful taglines I've had in recent months.

well if all of your firewalls are turned off then maybe you have an IE problem. You really should try firefox and see if you can get to those sites with it.

I have no more advice than that.

najida: What version of window OS are you using?
Backhoe,ShadowAce,rdb3: Are you around? The more helpful ideas here the better.
It sounds to me like your windows "registry" still has a bunch of norton stuff in there.
Registry First Aid is a good program for cleaning your "reg"
