After watching John Stossel's report on 20/20, I decided to challenge you with a quick one minute quiz, see how you do on a series of what should be easy - moderate questions.
None of the questions I saw on the test bear any relationship to the questions mentioned by Freepers. The test apparently is different for everyone taking it so comparing scores is meaningless.
I do not think that any legitimate school test would ask the question "Who was the first unseeded winner of Wimbledon?" Does this bit of pop-culture have any educational value?
I think the "test" strings together a series of questions from a database...
I also checked the "clock" it used... no matter how quickly I answered a question, right or wrong, it reported I was "slow" and came up with exagerated times.
I'm proud to say I got two right, which is about what you would get if you just randomly guessed.
I just made up a fictitious name with "@yahoo.com" and the page accepted it.
I agree. This screams urban myth.
Likely someone's real email address!

How about questions that offer a choice of "(3) Ronald Regan" as a choice? Especially when it attributes a famous Reagan line to someone else as the correct answer? I know the quiz's answer is wrong because I was there when Reagan said it. Or that gives the correct answer to "Who said 'I have not yet begun to fight'? as James Paul Jones?
This quiz is full of baloney. Martin Van Buren was elected in 1836? Hardly.
For your consideration.

The questions start repeating, giving those of us with even the most rudimentary short-term memory an advantage. Unfortunately, with my dial-up connection I can't get done in much under two minutes even if I know all the answers.
I would be curious to know how somebody scored a "130", indicating 13 correct answers out of 10, though. I can't beat that.
Take a look at this guy LOL!:
bboyd
(has taken the quiz 3 times)
[1st place score]: 130
514 minutes 54.96 seconds
January 18th 11:28 PM
So is the "leader board" that has the current leader "bboyd" at a score of 130 points achieved in a blindingly fast 514 minutes 54.96 seconds on January 18th 11:28 PM! Right... sure...
And don't forget the US Disciplinary Barracks!;)
Apparently you can take the exam over and over with different questions. I took it many times and never did better than 80. Some esoteric material here!
Easy and moderate questions you say?
The very first question I was given:
What was German's main school of architecture and applied arts in the 1930's?
Deuchland Skewl
Kraftwerk
The Bauhaus
The Rathaus
This is an easy question?
By the way I got it right.
I don`t think these questions were intended for American school children. Most of the questions that were present to me seemed to be associated with German history.
What the...?
"Clearly you didn't have my much feared history teacher who made us memorize all the presidents. IN ORDER. "
No, but when I was a kid I had a memory. Didn't actually know what "forget" meant. I mean, I heard people talking about it, but it never happened to me.
We did have to memorize all the states and their capitals to get out of the fourth grade.
Of course, when I was in fourth grade there were only seventeen states, but...
"This is an easy question?"
For me it was, because I knew the answer.
Others were not only things I didn't know, but things I would never bother to study or remember.
Taken the quiz 52 times... that was me when I was testing it for you guys. Imagine the funny part was I only got 9 out of 10 and I entered the questions :-)
