Taylor Hicks! Wolfstar, I'm sorry--I really like this guy

No need to be sorry, Jonny. If we all liked the same things and the same music it would be a boring world. Hicks is not my cup of tea, but my opinion of him is clearly in the minority.

Here are the four finalists from NC. And look, Howlin--Bucky's one of us!

Bucky is cute. I don't remember him from the auditions phase.

The rocker dude is OK. I don't remember the young woman who's wearing brown, and don't know if I can ever give Pickler a chance because I look at her and see Carrie.

Am typing this before I see the show tonight.

It should be a great competition from here on in.

I don't think we will see another Akin nor another Fantasia. Akin was too wierd looking and Fantasia just can't sing. They were abberations IMHO.

To be honest, most of the folk that washed out were less than camera friendly. Even that massive chick with LOTS of junk in a BIG OLD trunk had a pleasant face.

I think the kid with Stewie's face will be going soon as well as the big mama, and I think the 16-yo is a front runner. The 6 footer has real potential if she just sings instead of vamping.

Next week I hopefully will be able to put some names with the players.

I am getting really good at scanning the posts as the show goes on -- but a few times I have skipped a post or 2 ahead and accidentally ruined it for myself :(

But in general it is more fun to watch this with my FRiends (even on time delay) than watching it alone.

I agree. There was one girl who did this tonight, "Vonzelle II"--she seems to think the louder you sing, the better you sound. My eardrums disagree.

As long as there isn't a "Fantasia II"

Ray Charles with a little Joe Cocker thrown in? That sounds about right. I said to a co-worker yesterday that he had a very soulful-country-bluesy voice. He's also very emotional when he sings. I like him. I'm also biased as he attended my alma mater.....War Eagle Taylor!

Two belated observations from the delayed viewing crowd....

Sway???...NO WAY!!!!

Doesn't one of the 12 girls resemble Julia...the hairdresser from CT a few seasons back? IITRC, she had a large, well developed following among males on this thread..

You were late to the party tonight, young lady :)

Yes I was, and then i had to leave early. :( There were a few last night I couldnt' understand. Brenna? ( The one ya'll call Elvis chick) Can she sing? And the guy with the long greasy hair...he makes Constantine look clean.

Watching Taylor last night, I wondered if he has mild cerebral palsy..his movements are similar to some students I have had with it. I just think some of his movements are medical related. I still like him though, although I don't think he will go as far as Ruben and Bo.

The talent pool looks a little better after last night. I really wasn't sorry to see anyone cut (other than the way they did it from time to time, especially with the last pairs. Other than that, not much to say, except I will say that as little as I have been fond of "Sway", he certainly saved his best performance for when it mattered most -- before I heard that, I never would have expected him to make top-24.

Do they have all of the stereotypical bases covered in this group? Let's see... we've got a "crooner", a geeky kid, a "big girl", a girl who's got a much better body than voice, a "rocker", and at least one country singer. If that doesn't cover all of the bases, it at least gets most of them.

"Oh my God! I just kissed Paula Abdul on the lips!" I don't think I would brag about that.

Somewhere, Corey Clark is deeply saddened.

Brenna makes it! Ladies and gentleman...we have found this years Mikayla.

Mikayla was annoying, but in a cute, fun way. Brenna is just annoying.

Paris--is there any doubt?

I still don't think she can pull off convincing "pop" performances for 14 straight weeks. Her voice is more suited for jazz/blues.

Taylor Hicks! Wolfstar, I'm sorry--I really like this guy :)

Me too. I think he performs very well vocally and is by far the most unique contestant they have this year. Think of him as George Huff, with real vocal chops.

don't know if I can ever give Pickler a chance because I look at her and see Carrie.

I know, it's really distracting. She could be likable in her own right, though. She seems to have a pleasant personality, and she can sing ... I'm just not sure about her.

Nah, Fantasia believed that the louder you screech, the better you sound.

I'm not a fan or Vonzelle (I or II), but at least they don't screech.

I couldn't find a photo of Melissa McGee, but I did find this about Julia Demato:

Former ‘Idol’ contestant charged with DUI

Season two hopeful pulled over, drugs allegedly found in her SUV

BROOKFIELD, Conn. - Former “American Idol” contestant Julia DeMato was arrested and charged with alleged drug possession and drunken driving in her hometown over the weekend.

Police said the 26-year-old singer was arrested early Saturday morning after they saw a dark sport utility vehicle drive into the parking lot of a restaurant that had been closed for more than an hour.

DeMato, who made the top 10 in season two of “American Idol,” failed field sobriety tests, police said. They said a search of her SUV found two marijuana pipes, a small quantity of marijuana and a baggie with a small amount of white powder that tested positive for cocaine.

She told the News-Times of Danbury that it was just a misunderstanding.

“I am not a drug user,” she told the newspaper in a phone interview from her home. “It’s going to be taken care of in court and that’s that.”

DeMato, who was released on $10,000 bond, is due in court on Dec. 16. MSNBC.MSN.com

She pleaded not guilty, but has since agreed to community service and drug rehab.

"American Idol" contestant Julia DeMato has reportedly cut a deal in Danbury, Conn., to get drug and alcohol charges pending against her erased.

The Brookfield, Conn., resident Thursday applied for alcohol education and community service labor programs and if she completes them, the charges will be dropped, the Danbury (Conn.) News-Times reported.

She failed field sobriety tests and was charged with drunken driving and a police search turned up two marijuana pipes, a small quantity of marijuana and cocaine, the newspaper said.

Once DeMato completes rehabilitation and community service, the charges against her will be dismissed. She returns to court Feb. 10.http://www.realitytvworld.com/news/idol-2-finalist-julia-demato-agrees-drug-rehab-community-service-1006807.php
