The Hannity Show (Radio): How many times will he say "great American" per show?
Vanity ^ | January 7, 2006 | Vanity

Posted on 01/07/2006 5:44:11 AM PST by mcg2000

Earlier today, a few of us were talking about the satirically campy exchanges that occur all too often on Hannity's radio program. jaop

As much as Willie Cunningham is loved, he should be flogged for introducing Hannity to the phrase "great American".

On average, how many times per show will Hannity and a guest call each other "great Americans"? We counted 9 during the last hour of his show; pre-Christmas vacation.

It's been a point of curiousity, besides .... good-golly, geez, it's such a swell topic for pals to talk about!

Kinda of like a bad joke gone stale i.e. the Mike Tyson and David Letterman routine ---> "you're the man." "No. you're the man." repeat 5x

Is this small circle of friends the only individuals who've grown increasingly tired of these exchanges?

---- Hannity's program is a dime a dozen without really bringing any uniqueness to the table. His key to success is following Limbaugh. Is there a national contract or sales push agreement for prior programing (I'm not sure who represents EIB)?

---- Does anyone else have a letdown after listening to Limbaugh - going into Hannity? Limbaugh is on the forefront of ideas, while Hannity is just a daily review of what has already happened. Not a very strong independent thinker imop.

---- Hannity is too predictable .... when O'Reilly talks about kool-aid drinkers .... well ....

feedback anyone?

I can't listen to him any more in part thanks to this phrase he's worn so very, very thin.

Are you performing market research with these vanity posts? And, is this research for the Dimmocrats? First you post on Howard Stern's replacement, AS IF any Freepers ever listened to Howard Stern. Then, you question Sean Hannity's approach. What's the point?

Sorry, I can't lighten up on this. Sean Hannity is getting more than a fair share of honest constructive criticism. He is and has been attacked by Freepers for reasons that are unfair and ridiculous.

There is not one talk show host I have not turned off at one time or another, and not one that I have not thought to myself that they could have done a better job over an issue or position. Regardless, it's their program and I'm a consummer, not advising them on what to do. If you compare the comments on the Hannity thread to those for Tony Snow or Rush, there is no comparison. Hannity comments get personal and in their attacks on him and I, for one, am tired of it. I'll proudly support Sean Hannity.

In Cincinnati you can hear "Greg from Cincinnati" (who got Sean started with this saying) stroke Cunningham from 12:30 to 3:00, then Sean from 3 to 6. Six hours of non-stop "Your a great American" Not that there is anything wrong with the saying.

Hannity is too reverent in the presence of politicians for my taste.

I'm with you - can't stand those Hannity ankle biters. Why would Sean ever promote this forum like Brit, Rush, and others do from time to time when he is always personally attacked here?

My two cents--

I only listen to Sean if I miss Rush. When I have listened to both, back to back, they pretty much discuss the same stories. Like them both but like Rush more. FWIW.

"Quite frankly, Sean is in fact a 'Great American' but comes off as having the IQ of a turnip."

Curious...

Then how is it rarely if at all no opposing "genious" has been able to blow this "turnip" out of the water? Sean communicates so well the libs despise him.

Most people are NOT relating to the massive-brained William Buckley, are they?

Personally. I much rather listen to Buckley than Hannity any day of the week. I understand that is not the general public preference.

One of the reasons opposing "genious" has been able to blow this "turnip" out of the water is because the left have no real substantive arguments to make lucent points with.

There are no Bill Bennett's or Next Gingrich's on the liberal side making arguments for them. Christopher Hitchens was probably the lefts best voice, but since he actually has a working brain inserted into his cranium and doesn't oppose the Iraq war and understands terrorism, he is now a pariah to the left. That leaves the Dem's with left wing loons speaking for them.

Sean is a "Great American" and I did say he comes off with an IQ as a turnip, but that was to me, I'm not an intellectual giant by no means, but I an well informed and find Sean shtick a little tiresome

I understand he does a wonderful job smacking down the moon bats of the left.

In a debate against Libs, sure I'd prefer Buckley, Gingrich, and Bennett as well...And true, they haven't an intellectually honest leg to stand on in any case.

But Sean's job is to communicate, convert, empathize, and relate. Something he does arguably better than anyone other than Rush.

Sure, Sean gets a bit carried away with his routines, but "intelligence" can't always be measured via articulation, command of the language, or debating skills either. Otherwise the President would be behind the counter at a 7-11.

I don't care what anybody says about Hannity, you can't beat listening to Michael Savage ranting and raving about something. I don't listen to talk radio anymore, but I used to listen to Michael Savage a lot during the elections while at my job driving shuttle vans around the college. I'd get some very satisfying looks of horror from liberal passengers as an added bonus for my entertainment.

btw, I don't know of one talking head that I am 100% comfortable with to the point of being able to listen to them day in and day out.

Variety is the spice of life, after all.

That being said, my comment is not intended to insult anyone behind the mike or listening in.
