Who thinks jim Gilchrist should challenge Feinstein as a republican? (vanity)

Posted on 12/31/2005 12:35:42 PM PST by Patriot814

Since the republicans don't have a candidate and Jim gilchrist did well in the race for Cox's seat, but obviously would've won it if he ran as a republican are reasons why I think he should challenge Feinstein.

Who agrees?

Most voters would ask: is Jim Gilchrist a Republican or is he not, given his candidacy as a candidate representing the American Independent Party; if he wasn't before but is now (a Republican, inorder to make this proposed candidacy, if/when it should occur), what's different about Jim Gilchrist's politics now; and, why is the CA GOP not promoting candidates to run oppositionally to Dianne Feinstein?

And then the answers to those questions would probably determine the outcome to the proposed campaign.

I think he would be a good candidate, but I can't imagine the California Republican party nominating him. They will almost certainly go as far left as possible since they know that it's impossible for a conservative to win an election in California. (yes, sarcasm.)

Sure, the GOP won't run anyone credible against her.

I think CA is lost forever to the Repub. Too many conservatives are moving out (over here to AZ) and what they have left is a huge population of illegal immigrants - just the votes the RATs want to win. Why are the RATs most always for open borders? It will help them build their base, which for the most part is a income redistribution scheme - tax the wealthy in order to provide all the amenities the Constitution guarantees to the lazy and/or uneducated. Isn't that their theme song - free health care for everyone, free college for everyone, tax the wealthy their "fair share", yada, yada,

Too late for him to try. California law requires that a person seeking a party nomination to have been a registered member of that party for the 12 months preceding. I seem to recall a Libertarian candidate being disqualified a while because because his party registration was "decline to state".

If he still has only one issue he might as well give up politics.

I have listened to Jim many times on the radio, and yes, he would have my vote, if I lived in California.

The progress of the Minutemen, in one year, is enough to show what he is capable of doing.

Gilchrist is supported by the Constitution Party (under whatever party name they call it in CA.) and I hope he runs for them rather than as a Republican. I truly believe in order to scare the Dems and Reps into needing a diaper change we need a strong third party to do it. Conservatives considering an alternative may want to check out the Constitution Party. I know they fit my perspective better than anyone else.

Happy New Year!

I support Jim Gilchrist and donated to his campaign. And will donate again if he runs for office in the future. I left the Republican Party and joined the Constitution Party because, like you, they fit my beliefs better.

His party affiliation was an ongoing and contentious issue in this last CA campaign for the Congressional seat.

And, thus, it's a remaining issue that clouded his presentation and would affect his future ones. I recognize, also, what someone else wrote here and that is that he'd not be able to run as a Republican given the time required for party registration prior to a campaign.

I'd like to hear him explain, however, what was - perhaps, remains - a confusing party affiliation by him because it still seems to me that Gilchrist encouraged the misperception of him, his affiliations, by alluding to the GOP and "party of Reagan" and yet not being a Republican after exploring his facts (and thus, it appeared that he was attempting to present as a Republican but was not and less curious and less motivated people could be easily confused as to what party he actually was affiliated with).

Feinstein is assuredly Democrat (d'oh) and commands (literally) assuredly liberal votes and support and positions so Gilchrist, by competition with that, would need to run on "liberal vs. conservative" and define what "conservative" was to him, inorder to make any headway.

And, I'm not sure now which party Gilchrist ran on in CA recently (Constitution or American Independent) but he has a website and it's there if you read through the links. I know I got some strange emails from someone supporting him who promoted the American Independent so that's why the association took hold.

At least it would keep illegal immigration in the news.

Also, there are state specific organizations to which one can inquire.

I know this is an old thread, but I really support Gilchrist. His site is has him running for Congress, but wikipedia lists him as running against Feinstein. Do you the current status?
