I thought this would be an interesting thread, finding out the first car freepers ever had.

First 4 wheeled vehicle 1972 Ford Van purchased from the Telephone company for 100 bucks.

well after the truck which I gave to my parents (I had paid it off), I went out and bought a 1998 Chrysler Cirrus which my dad still drives every day to work....
now I have a Concorde....
I started with GM (see post 173) and am now back there. I drive a 2000 Silverado and my wife a 2004 Impala. My Dad still drives a Buick LeSabre.
yeah....
never had a GM car in my lifetime...
although My dad had an old Ford Granada when I was little....
I like chryslers. Although I think I may end up with a Dodge Charger next time out.

Poor me, I never had a 'first car' of my own! I had the good luck of driving my parents brand new buick in highschool, went off to college, and then got married without ever owning my own car!

I sold mine in 1983 for $750, and it had the requisite rusted-out panel behind the rear window, like almost all muscle-cars of that era...

3 speed floor or automatic? The 3 speed floor shifts were virtually theft proof if you knew the Gremilin floor shifter secret :>} Pull into a parking space. Hold the shifter in neutral, and turn the shifter column on the steering wheel into 1`st gear :>}. I used to back mine up against a wall outside the Norfolk Yards in Portsmouth, Va. I locked the tranny with shift column into reverse and nobody managed to steal it :>}
My first car was a red 1955 Thunderbird. The two seater if anyone here is old enough to remember.
Um, as long as I owned it my goal was to have it stolen. :-)
Just kidding, I couldn't have afforded theft coverage. I paid $100.00 in 1977 (when I was 20) for my 1971 Gremlin. It was definitely a 3-speed, floor shift. I was able to squeeze about 100 miles out of the existing clutch before needing a new one, adding another $150.00 to the cost of the car. I managed to keep it on the road for about a year and a half, at a maintenance cost of about $100.00 a month (brakes, starter drives, starters, flywheel, alternator, etc.) before it literally disintegrated on me.

The drive train was fine on the one I owned but you needed a crow bar to open the doors. The hinges due to the long doors wore out. My first car though I learned to drive in was a 55 Plymouth Belvedere wagon. Very worse car I owned was a 69 Renault. Piece of Junk. Only car stolen from me was my 61 Chevy somebody stole while I was away at boot camp.
