Good evening! I arrive here later than expected because DIL was hung up in traffic, and when I got home my daughter and SIL were here for supper.

I served tham a wonderful vegetarian minestrone which always conservative gave me the recipe for, and it was a big hit! It made a LOT of soup, however, so I sent the rest home with them. My daughter is working on a large paper this weekend so I was able to give her a meal she could heat up, as well as feeding them tonight! Thanks, alwaysconservative!!

It is sure cold here (13 degrees right now). The radio said we would have a white Christmas, because the 7.7 inches of snow we have on the ground won't melt off before December 25.

The Lure of Asia from The Australian

I found two items of particular interest. 1.) The US has ended a limited arms embargo against Indonesia; and 2.) The US restored military training with Indonesia last year.

I am well aware of the challenges presented in Indonesia. But this country bears watching. It is the fourth largest country in the world. It has a multitude of different languages and cultures which makes a unified governance a bit chancy. It is the largest muslim population in the world exceding the total muslim population of the second, third and fourth muslim countries, but not everyone wants to submit to sharia rule. Those that do are viewed as we do the snake-handlers and other extreme groups in this country. The trouble with that is that the extreme muslims are also the violent muslims.

Indonesia has several groups which want either to separate from Indonesia or a type of autonmy much like our Indian reservations. Indonesia has much natural resources, oil, gold, copper, hardwoods. They're faced with extremes of poverty with people living in the stone-age and city life found in the cities of Jakarta, Bandung and Surabaya.

Indonesia is going to be a country worth watching for the next several years.

Seems like one day the politicians will learn that a person who shows his self-importance equals arrogance. I doubt it, two stuck on themselves. Didn't their momma ever teach them that they could outrun a man but they couldn't outrun their reputation? Could be they don't care.

Little ole me is going to be stuck here all by myself today, oh how will I exist, D taking in laws out to look for property and a house, trailer, anything. They too lost everything in the storm but one thing about them, they never complain. Oh goodness what s difference in what we have been having. Sure, they invited me but ain't no way I want to drive all over the county looking at houses, etc, rather stay here and listen to Rush, watch Fox, all at the dame time ya know.

We age getting one heck of a north wind here, cold north wind. My chickens are not being hindered at all in laying their eggs, averaging 10 a day, neighbors getting to love me for sure.

Dean, what can you say, just dumb, the best weapon pubs have and don't you love it when a elected senator, etc, say they voted for the war in Iraq but didn't vote for it? Down here we call that 'double talk'.
