Its been almost 13 years since its release but this is one of those movies that no matter how often it is on, I still will stop and watch it. AMC has been showing it a lot the past few weeks and it was on again last night so, as is the usual practice, stopped and watched a good portion of it. As with all my lame reviews, here is a chance for Freepers to make comments, share memories, etc. of the movie.
My comments:
1. Why Laura Dern to play the female lead? If Denise Richards can play a scientist in a Bond movie, why couldnt they pick a real babe to play the role of a paleobotanist?
2. Jeff Goldblums character is perfect for him. My wife loves it when he plays the brainy, somewhat edgy character. His must go faster, must go faster in Jurassic Park is repeated by his character in Independence Day.
3. In that same scene, where the T-Rex is seen in the side mirror of the jeep and the Objects are closer than they appear is seen in the mirror, that same scene is duplicated in Toy Story.
4. Dinosaurs are reptiles and reptiles are the only creatures that continue to grow its entire life, which, during the time of the dinosaurs, would explain their huge size (early biblical records show people living 800 years, etc. Let an alligator grow for 800 years and think of what you might get). With that said, they dont explain the quick growth of the dinosaurs. Also, wouldnt have someone discovered this place early? Hard to hide huge herds of dinosaurs to planes flying overhead.
5. Seinfields Newman creeps me out in this movie. Pudgy little fingers all over the keyboard and then the thought of that raptor having a huge meal at the expense of Newmans gut
.
6. Why didnt Richard Attenborough use some of his tunnel digging experience he picked up on The Great Escape to get away from the dinosaurs?
Gesundheit.
You're dangerous.
You're exposing yourself to 'merciless and well-deserved ridicule'.
Think you can handle it?
And, by the by...I've always wondered something. Was the omission of the second "h" in your Freeper name intentional or a typing error on 3-23-2003?
I step away for five minutes and look what happens!
They have been very, very bad. But someone had to provide our entertainment.
I agree with this. I actually walked out of the movie theatre after about 20 - 30 minutes. For the life of me I could not imagine what everyone saw in this movie. I almost fell asleep and never had any desire to rent it or see it again.
So help me if you two don't stop it I'll turn this car around and we'll head straight home!
I was flipping through the channels and caught the last hour of Jurassic Park last night. Well, the last 20 minutes that took an hour to show. What is it with Sci-Fi and their 4-minute commercial breaks every 10 minutes?
They did pique my interest with their Triangle mini-series though promos. Catherine Bell. Rawr!
I don't think you have to worry about it much. My boys really had little to do with girls until they arrived at college. I, on the other hand, was crazy about them from about the sixth grade.
Like much of life these issues are kinda background noise for kids and the things which would have had my generation in an uproar just go right by them.
Fortunately mine are 26 and 21 with no wife in sight yet. I didn't find mime until I was thirty and the wait was worth it. She passed away 8 yrs ago so could not see how well her boys have done.
Most important to relations are the example of a loving mom and pop and I am sure you have shown them that and have nothing to fear. I know I know moms just HAVE to worry though.
