Well, aside from a deviation from the facts of their lives, the overall film is an accurate portrayal and the acting is good. Phoenix makes you think that he IS Johnny; he mimics his voice and mannerism so well that it is almost creepy (creepy as in you almost think that he is "channeling" Johnny).
