I don't mind familial gatherings. I'm all for them.
I do object, however, to having my house (hence my time, energy, and services) volunteered for me without my permission.
My husband is the youngest of six. I'm now expected to entertain 10 other people and their attendant offspring without so much as a by your leave.
Mother is not well pleased.....

How're you? I'm busier than a one-legged man in the streets of Pamplona.
I have primary engineering responsibility for a process gas distribution control box that is due to a major capital equipment manufacturer on 01/16/2006. All of the long lead-time material is in-program, but several intermediate lead-time items are new designs that I have to finish and get in-program ASAP so they arrive in-house far enough ahead of our commit date that it doesn't slip.
Engineering groups working on other modules for this tool have more significant hurdles, so the need date from our customer may slip anyway, which would give us more time, but I can't count on that. If everyone gets done on-time, we all look good; it was a tight timeline to begin with, and meeting the milestones was acknowledged to be tough from the beginning. If one of the other groups misses a milestone and they cause the overall schedule to slip a few days, then being on-time means I'm among the first to the table with a completed module, then I and my company stand out above the rest, which is even more impressive. If we slip our commit date, but one of the other modules comes in as late or later, we end up still being okay. BUT -- If we slip our commit date and everyone else is on time, we go on the poop list.
All that said, my screen name may not pop up as much over the next few weeks as it has in weeks past, though I'll try to drop in and say "Hi" once in awhile.

Mother is not well pleased.....and when Mama ain't happy, ain't NOBODY happy.
Agree it was tack not to ask you, first but, what can you do; blow a whistle and throw down a yellow flag? "Personal foul. Sibling number three. Ten yards. Third down."
Hope it all goes well.

The siblings, at least, still gather annually around my Grandfather's birthday, but we haven't had EVERYONE there at once in since us cousins were still living at home. Were he still living, my Grandfather would be 110 next year.

Gotta go for the afternoon, for reasons set out above.
May check in over the weekend. The three older kids have a performance of "Peter Pan" on Saturday afternoon, so I may report on that.
Keep safe, all.

Hkmk23, if ever there was a man, woman, or beast, in more need of a beer than you, I am not aware of it.
TGIF!
Fan, give the man whatever he wants from the bar. My tab!

The last time we had a family reunion (all the folks on my mom's side), I was a child.
It was amazing, though! Relatives all over the place; antiques; quilts; family documents, etc. Unfortunately, I was too young to appreciate all of that history in one place.
