The good snacking with cereal three other times is what will get you burning off lots of calories without even exercising.
Lots of studies suggest 6 times a day, keeping the metabolism going keeps the weight down compared to 2-3 meals a day.

I can't ever stick to just cereal; I get into the smoked teriaki sticks, beef jerky, Wheat Thins, peanuts...oh, and coffee. With cocoa mix and a double-shot of half-and-half.
