The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

ARGH! I took the photos yesterday, and hubby so generously downloaded them from the digital cam for me. Then he unplugged his computer and took it with him to Dallas for his business trip...

I'm using his old computer while he's gone, but the photos are on HIS computer! He won't be online until tomorrow, which means he can't email them to me - so I'm going to see if I can go get some more photos this afternoon. :P

LOL! We had this one posted on the thread yesterday and we've been discussing it off and on ever since. A very strange animal indeed. Thanks for the thought though. Pictures are always appreciated.

It's a Samsung Digimax A402, and it's new to me so I'm trying to access it. (I don't have the manual). But it appears that he cleared it (it was full yesterday)...

I know that he downloaded them, so I don't think they are on the camera any more. Rats. I'll go get some more!

Thank you for the suggestion about snapfish!!

OOoh, it IS easy. Now let's see if I can make this little baby show up...

He's in my neighbor's round pen, where's he's staying while being weaned. Mom's being moved to a new pasture next week, but we're glad she was able to stick around during this first couple of stressful weeks of weaning.

Notice the crispy brown background - it's 70 and tinderbox dry in JANUARY here in Central Texas. No yummy grass this month...

Ranger is a nice looking colt :) He's going to be one gorgeous horse. Can he be double registered as a Quarter Horse and as a Paint? I think the AQHA may have changed their rules regards that but I'm not sure. I think he probably could get in the Paint Registry if the AQHA no longer prohibits it.

Thank you! I think he's purty :)

I hadn't thought about the double registry - I had to look up the 'white rule' to see if he slips in under the fence for registered Quarter Horse, but I can't seem to find a decent graphic to show me where the white "boundaries" are located on the horse.

I didn't realize that was an option for him to double register! I'm going to try and look it up and see what I can find.

Do you think he has "too much white" for a Quarter Horse? He has papers, and The AQHA did just change the white rule, but I think they require you to shave the area in dispute and I don't want to shave him if I can help it :P. I love Paints, so I'm happy either way! He doesn't have to prove anything to me...

I don't know alot about the AQHA but he doesn't have "high white" on his legs - nothing over the hocks, and his white on his face is inside his eyes so I don't think there is any problem registering him AQHA. I don't think he's even questionable.

He is going to be one flashy horse though with that white face :)

With that flashy white face I can see him from clear across the pasture and through the round pen fence even at dusk - from 30 acres away! It's handy...

Actually I like the docs that couldn't get into medical school and went to Mexico instead. They tend to be more humble and learn to treat people without a lot of tests and equipment. They all have to pass boards:')

Hullo all! I was without internet all day today!
It was like losing both my hands, I swear. I couldn't figure out what to do with myself all morning :~D

But then I did figure out how to get a lot of chores done :~D

dandelion. Glad to see the pics of Ranger! He's pretty. I guess I'm suprised he's as fuzzy as he is, as warm as it stays down there all winter. He's fuzzier 'n my pony!
