The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I'll bet if you showed up at school with a hoss like that, you'd be a very rich woman!

The first thing I thought about when I saw it was that I'd heard of people liking short-backed horses but this was ridiculous! ;o)

You want to lend me the money? LOLOLOL My car had to have the engine taken apart, the gasketts replaced, the intake replaced, and two new pumps. It's costing me just about everything in my checking account. I am poor woman right now.

Hahaha I bet I would be rich woman. I think a short backed horse is neat too, but I would want one with all four legs.

Oh yea, I called the program director and she said not to panic. The instrauctors will have to give me an incomplete, but when I come to school next week I can take the finals, and the instructors can change my grade and I can pass. Whew. This may be the first quarter I don't get A's though, because they will have to take points off.

Yeah right! I'm just saying that shelling out the cash for a rental car would be cheaper than the money you'll be out if you miss the exam. Most of them will even bring the car to ya if you need them to. Rent a Yugo or something. That oughta be pretty cheap. Heck they might even PAY you to drive one of those! ;o) But I'm sure you got enough buds out there to bumb a ride off of. You'll make it somehow.

I've ridden some that FELT like they moved like that. That's why I like gaited horses. ;o)

I rode one horse that felt like that. His hind legs were so far OUT behind him its like they are not there. All I felt were his front legs. It was not a comfy ride. I kept looking behind me wondering what was the matter LOL.

Well that's nice that they'll letcha do that. Teachers do have souls I guess. I wouldn't worry too much about not getting all A's though. Sounds like you're doing very well. Good grades are great, but as long as you get out of school and get a job, nobody'll ever know anyways. It's kinda scary to think about sometimes, but you never know if your doctor graduated first in his class or last. He's still a doctor.

Yikes, that is true. I did wonder about that with my doctor back home in California. He would never talk to tell us what what wrong with us unless we asked him. He would just write a prescription and walk away. Sometimes he would just leave and say, "I don't know what is wrong with you" as he was walking out the door.

They will have to take some points off for sure, but I can still make a good grade, I think. I am getting As in there already, so if I could make a high B, mabe I still could get an A.

Yeah, they kinda hit the ground like a ton of bricks when they move like that. My cousin had a horse that was the most uncomfortable ride I've ever sat. His CANTER wasn't even smooth! You'd end up with raw spots on the inside of your knees from trying to cushion the blows. I only rode him once and that was enough. And maybe it was just me. He was the most dependable horse you've ever seen though. They could do anything with him. Before our local police force got their own horses, they used to borrow him for ballgames and parades. The NCAA Division II National Championship Game is played here and one time they had the game ball brought in via helicopter and he stood there like a statue while it landed and took off in front of him. So he had his merits. Gait just wasn't one of them.

LOL!!! At least he was honest. I think most of the time doctors have no clue, or won't take the time to dig deep enough to find out. Call me a pessimist, but if they can't see you, diagnose you and send you on your way in 5 minutes, they're not interested. They treat by trial and error hope that the error doesn't kill you. ;o)

Hahaha went I went into the emergency room one time because I thought I was having a heart attack the emergency room doctor didnt even spend one minute with me!!! (still had to pay him $500) He kept asking me questions and didn't give me time to say anything more than a "yes" or "no". That was frustrating. Especially when he said that yound women like me don't have heart problems. Argh!!! I needed to tell him I have anirregular heart beat, but he was too busy to listen.

He's a good one that's for sure. She raised him from a baby. He's probably 20-something by now, but even when he was young she could always put her little kids and grandkids on him and hand them the reins and he'd just walk around like a puppy dog. They even let this guy who was logging their land use him to skid logs out of the woods for a while when his tractor broke down. He'd never been in harness before but after just a few days the guy could hitch him to a log and he'd pull it out of the hollow all the way to the truck with no guidance. I know he sounds like some kind of wonder horse but I swear he was just like that, and he was just a plain ol' grade horse of no particular breeding. I guess it's kinda like dogs, sometimes the best ones are just mutts.

Jeez! It makes you crazy doesn't it. I read somewhere that heart problems in women don't manafest themselves in the same way that they do in men and that often the first sign of a problem is that the woman dies. You'd think that if I know this that the doctor would too. I've got an irregular heart beat too. It can be really aggravating sometimes. Caffiene really does a number on me.

I really don't have any interest in horses. However, I came across a picture of a quarter horse and thought that this might be the appropriate place to post it.

What strange creatures they are.
