This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

4 degrees makes our 11 overnight seem warm by comparison!! We didn't get much ice and the roads/ground is too warm for it to hang around long. So, other than the extreme cold, we did pretty good.
2" of ice on the water trough this morning, but a couple of buckets of hot water and a shovel fixed that. The sun is out nice and bright so things will melt away fast even though we aren't supposed to get above 32 today.
Bad thing is the wind which is supposed to be 15-20 out of the NW. Only 7 MPH right now so it wasn't too bad feeding this morning. This afternoon will be raw though with that wind.
How did you do on your biology this semester?
OKay, I'll go take some since it's feeding and watering time, but first I have to say:

This past summer, Mack has been teaching me how to do the bookwork on the business. He hates book work. I don't mind it if it's caught up and you're not playing catch up. IT IS NOW ALL CAUGHT UP:)!!!! and I'm pretty sure I know how to do almost everything now, so it won't get behind again while I wait on Mack to show me something and he is out working.
I just finished catching up the last little bit of posting expenses and incomes. Now the book work will take me maybe 30 minutes a day. What a relief.
Now off to take pictures and feed:)

We're on our way out here so I'll have to see them when I get back ... ecurbh took the afternoon off and we're going to take advantage of the weekday free time to go Christmas shopping... hopefully beat some of the crowds :~\
Best time to go, have fun. You won't miss much as far as the pictures are concerned. It wasn't much of a snow, and even tho it hasn't started melting yet, it's already wore out looking.

Brrrrrr! Looks COLD! Thanks for the pics. At least it's sunny. I can take the cold better when it's sunny. It's been raining here all day and is gloomy as can be. It's 46 degrees but seems colder than that. I hate cold rainy weather!
It's 34 right now and raining. We went and put their blankets on.
The bitter cold does come through in the pictures :~D

It's gonna be cold here tonight too... into the low 20s.
I am so busy studying right now. Finals this week and next!
I have my last lab practical Friday morning at 11, and then I have to take another test in the testing center before closing on Saturday.
Next week is the lecture final and then I am done for this semester. I am a high B, low A right now depending on how these last tests go.

Good luck with your finals! Mine start on Monday. I have my advanced inorganic final on Tuesday, and that's the only one that I'm really worried about. (i.e. I'll start studying for it tonight) I have three labs to pass in today. Oh, and it's snowing kittens outside, and I still have classes.
I knew it was cold, but not that cold...
I clicked on your link, how accurate is this site? They are forecasting in the 50's starting Sat. and for the beginning of the week. Is is safe to get my hopes up:)?

Here's the NWS.
Got my car fixed at KC's yesterday. Cost a FORTUNE and when I was driving home I couldn't stop at the stop sign down the street...slid almost all the way through it. Went sideways and everything! Thankfully no one was around for me to hit! Finally got it stopped and couldn't get it going again! No traction!
I haven't gone anywhere since...no way I'm wrecking that car right after forking out all that money to get it fixed!
I went to town yesterday morning. The roads from here to town were snowpacked, but they at least had sanded the bridges. I think this is the first time I've seen them sand the little bridge below our house. Once I got to town it wasn't bad at all.
I haven't paid any attention if I've heard the school buses go by???Did Bixby close?

Wow! Sounds like everyone is having unusually cold weather. A record was set here yesterday. Only 3 degrees. We didn't get all the snow they predicted, only a few inches. The wind is the killer today.
Sorry about your car:(. Where is "KC's"? We use a guy in Bixby that we have been using forever. He's a very good mechanic and very reasonable. Him and his wife run their shop. F&M, it's behind that new Cingular office at 151 and Memorial. He always gives my kids a break on the labor, I guess he remembers what it's like to be young with kids:). Very nice people.
