Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I got off early, so I took it back after.
Turns out there wasn't anything to enter today as the other gal came in on a different day than usual. But there will be plenty to do tomorrow, so that's OK.
I have another interview on Friday, for that six month contract position I had a call about yesterday. But there's homework...I'm supposed to think of a process of some sort and write instructions for it...something like setting file permissions or sending a special e-mail or whatever. I get ta choose. Goody.
And since it's supposed to be one page, I guess I don't get to use screen shots. But maybe I'll break the rules. A picture is worth a thousand words, after all.
Though I don't suppose that qualifies in NaNo terms...

Yay! Thanks.
At least you have time to think. Get it done and show it to me, I'll read it for legibility and such.
How about the process for formatting a hard drive?

;o)<p. Well, that too! LOL!

I'm thinking it should be something more common - he's looking for the ability to explain something to a user. I dunno about you, but I don't *want* the average user to format a hard drive...not on a company machine, anyhow.
Maybe something like installing Acrobat Reader (EVIL!) or mapping a drive. Doesn't have to be anything too complex, I think. Probably just looking for language skills and the ability to break down a task to its smallest components.

Or using the treasure, which includes ancient Atlantean artifacts, to take over the world.

Mapping a drive is something a user is likely to do. Installing Acrobat Doom, maybe less so

Installing a printer might be a good one. Or creating a distribution list in Outlook...except Outlook functions differently depending on if you're connected to an Exchange Server vs using other methods.

And since it's supposed to be one page, I guess I don't get to use screen shots. But maybe I'll break the rules. A picture is worth a thousand words, after all. Maybe use a small screenshot to illustrate your text - just a dialogue window with the correct options checked or a pull-down menu, etc. Pictures always help clarify directions.

That's what I usually do. But if it's only supposed to be a page...even small pictures can quickly fill up more than a page.
But it'll show that I know what *works*. And straight text doesn't for a lot of people.

I like his little things he put into the story...like looking over and seeing the trees moving! It doesn't say there's a monster over there, but it implies it!
And they way it plays on your emotions. Like "He was just a little kid!"
Heh heh!
I swear, it was completely dictated. He stood right beside me and I typed it as he said it. I had no idea it would be so long!

Network is more common anymore. I dunno if I can fake it without being on a network, though. I'd be going off memory.
