The Hobbit Hole XXIV - Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
Please see our Hobbit Hole Troop Support project blog! ^

Posted on 08/24/2005 9:50:25 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Yeah well I'm one of those scary precocious kids who looks at you with great big serious eyes and then EATS YOUR HEAD. So you've been warned.

My inner child is ten years old today

My inner child is ten years old!

The adult world is pretty irrelevant to me. Whether
I'm off on my bicycle (or pony) exploring, lost
in a good book, or giggling with my best
friend, I live in a world apart, one full of
adventure and wonder and other stuff adults
don't understand.

They had a lot of pony answers :~D

That's what they all say...

Quarter to eleven here, folks. I'm having a great time, but I will sorely regret it in the morning if I don't go to bed now.

Nighty night!

You know...what is it about Oklahoma that makes people want to set off bombs in it?

They're saying that dude that blew himself up the other day sure did have Islamic connections. Went to a mosque. Disappeared for long periods of time.

Why Oklahoma, I wonder?

Well... I've never been through Oklahoma, so I can't say. But when I drove through Colorado and Kansas there was some stuff that kinda ticked me off. Didn't have any explosives with me, though.

:-)

2J... when we can't even answer truly ~why~ a person chooses to explode themselves at all... the choice of where they choose to do it is just that much more mystery.

I love Oklahoma. I think I wasn't ever really happy in Texas, because I was always an Okie at heart...

They just seem to be getting more than their fair share. Questions are still swirling about the Murrah building bombing...

Why Oklahoma? It's full of wild and cuh-razy guys?

Dunno really. I was rather stunned myself. This thread says one of the explosive elements was the same stuff the "shoe bomber" guy used. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1496790/posts

Time to que the Twilight Zone music.

I tried several ways, could not get past 10. Even if I left out mentions of ponies.

There were no questions about weaponry.
