Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

It's been years, I think, since I've seen anything other than the badly dubbed version that's always on TV.
But we're not gonna watch it now, we're going out to dinner.
See y'all later.

We just got back from Jr's football game. You coulda gone with us.
We lost 21-18. They played okay, but practically had a penalty called on every other play. Somebody's gonna be doin' laps come Monday...

Heh...it'd be a bit of a long trip to see the game.
Was this about the first game of the season? I fergit when it starts.
Jen's off with friends. I'm playin' guitar and trying not to feel absolutely desperate since I can't do anything about the job situation on a weekend.

You're late!
Gonna hit the hay in a bit here. Just looking at pretty guitar pictures. And fruitlessly job hunting.
I'm beginning to wonder which local restaurant it'd be least miserable to waitress at. If even *they'd* hire me.

If I wasn't a) trying not to spend money and b) skeered to go alone, I'd go to tomorrow's festivities. But both items factor in, I guess.
Maybe next year, if I'm still here.
OK, NOW I'm going to bed.

Thanks Suzi! It's a really lovely blender and I've been wanting one for ages.
Good grief, is it 1:30 already? That's what happen when geeky people play cards and order pizza. The other girl there was the only non-compsci person there, poor thing, we kept making dreadful geek jokes and she didn't quite get them.

Goood morning! There are hints of fall in the air. It's *almost* chilly outside. And the sun is getting lazy - sleeping in and such.
Have a day of chores and errands getting ready for our camping trip. Have to go get provisions and a tank 'o gas. Got the Liberty back from it's maintainence run yesterday. I'm still stuned at what they charge for "maintainence" - ack!!!!
Camping will be fun. Usually we do a modified backpacking trip: hike in, set up a small base camp, do day hikes from base. But this'll be our first extended trip with the dogs. Jack is up for hiking but Sadie isn't. It doesn't take much for her old bones to start aching and creaking. So we're car camping (*shudder*) and taking it easy up in the central mountains (sic) of PA. Should be just lovely - I can't wait!
