The Hobbit Hole XXIV - Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
Please see our Hobbit Hole Troop Support project blog! ^

Posted on 08/24/2005 9:50:25 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

realize that Parliamentary Democracy is a sham

It has amazed me how it seems to be the Democrat country system of choice. Our founders were very smart. We are far from perfect but there are some pretty remarable insightful checks on Govt powers. Hey Sam are you part of the Hobbit Hole Thread? I moved our discuss there since it really was off topic in the thread we were in.

Mine didn't. I was actually scared to open it! (You know, I sprayed my mailbox and soaked my mail with clorox solution for months after the anthrax attacks.) I kept wondering if it was a letter bomb! But I'm admittedly paranoid.

[blinking] Wow. :-) Sometimes you really crack me up 2J... :-)

Hm...no, but there was a familiar name on the invoice, once we did some scrounging around. ;-)

You really, really shouldn't have! But we really really appreciate it!

It's really, really nice! And it'll really, really get used! Heh...

Thanks!!

I'll have to keep a lookout for that CD.
I'm glad you 'christened' the blender with Margaritas!

I admit, I'm still warming up to Andrew Peterson's voice, but a lot of his lyrics are very nice, and he's got an all-star cast of musicians backing him up.

I'm enough of a musical geek that I can often hear a guitar or mando or fiddle in the background on something and think "Hey, that sounds like so-and-so", and when we were listening to those CDs for the first time, I *knew* they were pros. Turns out he's got most of Allison Krauss's band backing him up on some cuts, plus Stuart Duncan (GREAT fiddler), and others I can't recall at the moment. Just outstanding musicianship on his albums. I notice stuff like that!

It's a VEY belated housewarming gift! Y'all mentioned one night that you wanted margaritas but didn't have a blender.
