Tips for inducing labor?

I realize this isn't a typical question on FR, but I am looking for any advice I can get. I was due to have my 3rd baby on August 12, and as of yet, she is a no-show. I was wondering if anyone knows of any safe ways to bring on labor. I bought a bottle of castor oil today, but that will be my last resort. If you've tried this, did it work? I've heard mixed reviews on it.
Any info/advice/stories would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Obviously. Her only advice was to be induced with Pitocin which is not what I want to do at this point. I was just looking for things that worked for others.

Oxytocin does it best!
You will have a baby RIGHT NOW!!!
To: rampage8
Do what caused the baby to get there in the first place. Except maybe a little on the rough side. =)

What does your doctor say? In my case they had to use a little oxytocin to get things moving. This was done in a hospital setting. Don't know of any home remedies...

I've heard that mowing the lawn induces labor.

Eat a large pizza with everything.

Get yelled at an airport by a cop! Worked for me...(Ontario Airport, August 16, 1989 - results 6:15 am August 17th, 7lb 5oz beautiful baby boy now 16 years old TODAY!)

Well, some revolting visage [mine, for example] normally works. Try hillary's photo.

Both our kids were a week overdue. Which meant they came out plump and healthy versus wrinkled and prune-like. So overdue was not a problem. (Your doctor will induce after one week I'm assuming)
Walking is the typical advise given to induce. It didn't work in the four deliveries I've been involved in.
Best advise I can give - Epidurals are wonderful!

A flat tire in a snow storm worked the first time. :-)
A quick zip around the mountain on the motorcycle worked the second time - not my intent - I just had an intense case of cabin fever.
Walking is usually recommended - these days that means round and round the mall.

I've heard the pizza thing with anchovies is a sure-fire winner.
