I was just sitting here thinking about a 1500 mile drive I have to make, and contemplating burning a couple CDS for the drive. I found some music that would make it more interesting but not enough. So here is the question.
If you were going to drive from Phoenix to Indy, you were in a sports car, what music would you want to have on your cd?
Well, those are great for the open road.
When traffic gets thick, put up the top, close the windows, and switch to Mozart's violin concertos.
Vivaldi is fine, also. ;^)
Sirius Satellite subscription.
Warren Zevon "The Wind", anything by Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks
LA Woman, Let It Bleed, Live Trey Anastasio
"Spirit of the Radio" -Rush
"Holiday Road" - Lindsey Buckingham
"Twisting By The Pool" - Dire Straits
"I Love You Suzanne" - Lou Reed
My favs:
Van Halen - Fair Warning
Billy Joel - 52nd Street
Rush - Caress of Steel
The Eagles - Greatest Hits 71-75
Anything by The Sheiks...SSZ
AC/DC, Motorhead, Judas Priest, Raven, any classic rock or heavy metal.
I suggest The Crystal Method, Junkie XL, Static X and Boy Hits Car for long drives. Rock On!
Autobahn by Kraftwerk
Beach Boys/Jan & Dean music (the car tunes, not the surf ones)
Frank Sinatra
Chuck Berry (Maybelline, for starters)
Tchaikovsky
The Cars' Greatest Hits
Somthing like "Straight out of Line" or "I stand alone"
You don't want to listen to too much or you'll soon get a ticket for going 110mph down the road.
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
Van Halen - I
Pharcyde - LabCabin California
William Orbit - Strange Cargo III
The The - Infected
And for some mellower tunes...anything Pat Metheney or Miles Davis works for me.
BOB SEGER'S GREATEST HITS I & II. Like Colt .45, works every time, and you get there faster.
Bible on CD is not a bad idea.
Well you just have to have "Born to Be Wild" by Steppenwolf, and "Take the Long Way Home" by Supertramp.
A sentimental favorite of mine is Don Henley's "Boys of Summer."
For fans of country music, Kathy Mattea's "Eighteen Wheels and Dozen Roses" is a good one.
Frank Zapps'a Joe's Garage. (Not for tender ears)
I like books on tape/CD, with some good thumping rock for a change of pace.
"Spirit in the Sky" by Norman Greenbaum :-)
