Hello FR music fans. A light hearted thread for FReepers to discuss what music they have been listening to lately (old and new). It might be cool to be exposed to new music or old music that others might not have heard. Since I don't have a life, I'm home on a Saturday night listening to my local rock station (WRIF -Detroit).
But the real deal, in my opinion, is Sirius Satellite Radio.
The last music I listened to was on an LP.

I'm starting to sound like a broken record now.
That is when we had ours, I was 8---it was our first brand new car...I learned to drive in that car...
And I lived in Boulder Colorado---when I was in high school I would take that car to the parking lot of the school at night, and we would have races in the snow--IN REVERSE!!!
It was a hoot, but one of those things that if Mom and Dad found out about they would either die, or kill me! LOL

Yes is my all time favorite group. Got every thing they've ever done and have seen many times.
Yes is also one of my favorite bands. Chris Squire used to be my very favorite bass player, and he's still very much a huge influence for me.
As far as Bill Bruford... Well, he's been around quite a bit. He's played with Yes, King Crimson, Genesis (mostly their live stuff, subbing for Phil on the drums), UK, and most of the solo albums from his Yes bandmates. I know he played on Chris Squire's "Fish Out of Water" and a few of Steve Howe's, Rick Wakeman's, and Patrick Moraz's albums. I think he also did some stuff on Jon Anderson's "Olias of Sunhillo." Oh, and he did the Anderson, Wakeman, Bruford, & Howe stuff too.
Am I weird? I think that one of the best songs Yes ever did was Simon & Garfunkle's "America." But I only like the long version, which I believe is only on "Yesterdays."
It's funny how I'll go through "moods" where I prefer one style of Yes over another. I might be feeling in a "Going for the One" mood, or maybe a "Drama" mood. Then some other time, it's "Close to the Edge."

Ours was more a lemon. I remember we took it to Wisconsin from Virginia, my parents went there to buy some dairy cows for our herd. Traded it off in 69 for a 67 Plymouth, by then, the transmission was about shot. As we were leaving the lot, a mechanic came out to move it, and it totally died on the spot!! It's demise was as glorious as it was brief....
This is going to be an awesome summer for "Yes" fans!

The double DVD, shot at Tsongas Arena in Boston during Yes’ highly acclaimed 35th Anniversary Tour, showcases the band in high definition and a state-of-the-art 5.1 Surround Sound audio track, featuring the reunited classic line-up of Jon Anderson, Steve Howe, Chris Squire, Rick Wakeman and Alan White. The Word Is Live, a box set of Yes live concert performances, is scheduled for release by Rhino Records on August 23.

In those days, there was nothing but the music. You'd be lucky if the band even faced the audience, much less have any "show patter" or anything but gritting teeth behind swirling guitars and Greg's Hammond B3 with Leslie speaker.
At a show where they opened for Santana, they introduced a new song written by the "other", at the time, nameless guitarist (Duane and Greg had done all the previous original tunes) called "In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed".
Long...loooong jam that blew me away!
Found out that "other guitarist" was pretty good too.
While Dickie was good, I lost all interest after Duane died, and 'Eat A Peach' was my last album.
How come nobody mentioned "The Outlaws"?
"Green Grass and High Tides" is a great song to waste 9 1/2 minutes with, even if NOBODY knows the words....
Right now---Rebel Yell by Billy Idol is playing on my CD!
Well, you have to admit, it still looked better than the Pacer....
That is one of my all time favorite songs. "Making Movies" is my favorite Dire Straits album.
I drove the Gremlin until one day the whole steering wheel and column came off in my hands as I was shifting gears!!!
LOL---we had to bury that one!!!
