The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Good grief. That's just wrong.
As to the diamonds, are they being offered you by an African gentleman who spells his name with all capital letters?

I finally bought some pineapple! Ate a bunch of it over the weekend.
But tonight, I am being very bad and ate half a container of Ben & Jerry's Coffee Heath Bar Crunch. :-P

I'd think they could pull something together for a September/October wedding if they don't want to wait too long. Difficult time for friends who are away at college. We got married in October, but most folks were still in town or close by. There were only a couple who couldn't make it.

Heh. I told her one can put together a wedding in six weeks. She said she didn't think her five months were enough! Silly girl.
Buy a dress, pick a bridesmaid, invite a couple people, bribe the preacher, tell the groom where to show up and remind the best man to make sure the groom wears a suit. How is this a big deal?

It's been so long since I was in college, I didn't even think about that!
The one time I got married, the groom wasn't even there!
We went together to get the license, but he had to go back to work. So I went to see my mom's best friend (a notary), who placed a McDonalds' napkin on my head, handed me a plastic rose and had me repeat the vows for the both of us.
Needless to say, it wasn't very romantic.

Hmmm... I'm betting that the "disrobing at 2:59" gambit wins.

Needless to say, it wasn't very romantic. Wassahuhgh?? No way... Had to go back to work???
Now... I'm as committed to my career as the next guy... but THAT is a little over the top. :-)
To: RMDupree
Oh, my! That's.... quite a story. Next time go all out, ok ;-)
I'm not very demanding and I can be flexible, as I consider the wedding to be much less important than the marriage, but there's gonna be a church, and I'll be wearing a dress, and my dad will walk me down the aisle. That's all that matters - flowers, who cares, I can't imagine inviting more than forty people on my side and half that's immediate family.

Good evening...
Weekend was too short. I demand a recount, or something.

But think, it's... Tuesday already, so only another three days until we get another weekend.

In hindsight, I should have taken it as a sign.

That one will be too short as well. By the time I get relaxed from work and ready to do stuff at home, it's time to go back to work again.
And I don't have enough time in the evenings to work on any of the stuff I want to work on, either.
Wahh.

Evenin' to ya, Bear.
I agree that long weekends seem shorter.
Thankfully and miraculously, I was very productive today, so I know the rest of the week will be much smoother sailing.
And like Jen said, the week is halfway over already!
