*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Can you get them deeper than 48? We talked about an in the ground but to many cons right now. I remember:") Eddie and I use to swim at midnight when we lived in the country and the kids went to sleep.
You think if I put one in at the land and could get the horses in I might be able to right it off as a creek, huh?

I'm at work on my lunch break. Crappy day. Maybe I should just quit and live off the land.

When my Lab was a tiny pup (just 10-12 weeks old), if a bird hit the glass she would tenderly pick it up and bring it to me. She's still doing it - brought me one yesterday. Unfortunately this one was dead - sometimes when she brings them to me they're just stunned, and we can revive them.

I was napping on the couch last summer, with the door wide open, and I woke up to Gidget looking very intently at me, saying "Rmph!" "Rmph!". As it turns out, "Rmph!" "Rmph!" means "Wake up! Look! I just set a dead mouse on your chest!"

Well, you can usually see that triangle defined in the muscles and ligaments. Where the side of the neck comes out of the shoulder is the base of the triangle, the bottom of the crest ligament is another side, and the muscle on the side of the neck is the third side, so you want to be inside all three of those.

Where did you get a 62 inch? I haven't seen any around here. I liked this one because there isn't any assembly.

I guess that's why she told me to put my hand beside the shoulder. I'll look and see if I can find the markers.

Well I have to go punch back in. DH says I have to make some seed money before I can think about living off the land. Later

"Wake up! Look! I just set a dead mouse on your chest!"

LOL!!! What a way to wake up. I guess it's the thought that counts and not the actual gift. ;o) Gigit just wanted to give you something she herself would want.

Here's a new pic I took of Grace yesterday, so if you or ecurbh could put it on the Who's Who page instead of the one that's there, I'd appreciate it.

You don't have to put this one on the Who's Who, I just thought this was a nice close up of her. She's a sweetie...

She's definately a long lean girl. She's already over 15 hands and she's not quite 2yrs old. I figure she'll top out at close to 17 hands. Her daddy was that big.

She's beautiful!

Will you back her yourself, or will you send her to the rig-man?

Well, I've been debating that question with myself. On the one hand, "the rig man" is very good at what he does and I've been very pleased with what he did with Blade. I couldn't have asked for a more bomb-proof horse, and there's no question that Bob(TheBiter) is going to visit him. On the other hand, Grace is very sensitive and his methods may be a bit rough for her. But on the other other hand, ;o), she is very large and very reactive and she could hurt me very bad. So I don't know. I've got a while before I have to decide.
