Help with Speeding Ticket
self

Posted on 05/25/2005 11:01:11 AM PDT by hsmomx3

I just got my first speeding ticket doing 39 in a 25 zone. I rarely drive the car and I should have known better.

Since this is my first, do insurance companies raise rates for the first ticket, or is it better to go to all day drivers school?

Thanks!!

The entire states of Massachusetts and New Hampshire should take that driving class. Sometimes I feel like the only person following the rules and posted speed limits! I'm the only person who uses a directional.

Yes, it's quite unfortunate that automobile manufacturers no longer put functioning turn signals on vehicles anymore.

Or, perhaps, we are just behind the evolutionary curve. Maybe everyone else can read one another's minds.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

So you get a choice your first time of whether to go to the night class or taking it online?

When you finish does it get you out of paying the fine and reduce the points?

****Sorry to disagree but my wife just got nabbed doing 68 in a 45 by a municipal cop. (etc, etc)

Don't be sorry.
I was speaking in generalities and recalling my last couple of local traffic court experiences. (republican run towns and judges so they're civilized)

But you're 100% correct. There's some localities that run their courts like Gestapo interrogations and the cops are like the SS. In the 'old days' ('60's) there were two Chicago burbs that were infamous for speed traps; Lyons and Willow Springs.

Both had main roads with a 45mph limit - that is until you hit their city limit and it dropped to 25 & 20 mph. One was right around a curve, the other over a bridge. No way to slow down in time. It turns out that both villages were controlled by the Chicago Mob, even the Police Dept's. That info finally bacame public in the 1990's.

So I have feeling a lot of that traffic fine money wound up in Tony Accardo's basement vault.

Uh... Not that there's anything wrong with that.
chicago thing :-)

Flee the country. Now. I'm serious.

That's a typo. You only have to fee the county, not the whole country. Unless the neighboring county has an extradition treaty.

They were actually faster off the mark than the 280z (none of them were particularly blazing going from 0-60) & had a faster top end speed than either the stock 240 or 280.

I hope everything with the speeding ticket (and traffic school) works out for you and you start over with a clean record.

Good luck! :)

there is no substitute for cubic inches. ;)

Cubic dollars beats cubic inches.

You just have to spin faster.

Don't buy a Z with carbs.

Those are the 240s and early 260s.

I owned an '75 280z about 20 years ago, I loved that car.

I'm not familiar with the first fuel injected cars (260z), but they had it working good by '75.

Cubic dollars beats cubic inches.

Never heard that term before. It will be used in the future.

I'd go so far as to say cubic dollars is the only thing that beats cubic inches with any consistancy.

My memory = completely opposite from yours, i.e.
Z went from 2.4L to 2.6L in'74? to compensate for emissions hdwre.
('74 also was 1st usage of cats by most of the imports)

You might be citing mag reviews of (Fed) cars, but the '74 260 (cal) was a total stone
The hot setup was to get a 2.0L (Jpn) I-6 from K Watanabe

300zx is definitely cool. I'm a big fan of the "pre-Nissan" Datsuns. I'm looking for a decent 240, 260, or 280z that I can kick @$$ in....

One of the good things about living in California is you can find one of those old relics in rust free condition. I own a repair shop in Massachusetts and haven't seen a Datsun in 15 years.
