Help with Speeding Ticket
self

Posted on 05/25/2005 11:01:11 AM PDT by hsmomx3

I just got my first speeding ticket doing 39 in a 25 zone. I rarely drive the car and I should have known better.

Since this is my first, do insurance companies raise rates for the first ticket, or is it better to go to all day drivers school?

Thanks!!

Depends on your age, how long you've been with them and past accident record.

Go to the school, you may learn something.

It's always better to take Defensive Driving. It's going to be cheaper than the ticket, it won't go on your record, and you receive a discount from your insurance company for having done so.

Considering that you rarely drive, it might just be a good thing to do even if you hadn't gotten the ticket.

You mean it is reported that you attend a drivers school?

Ouch. Not only does the ticket cost, the premiums increase..... Good luck.

Hire a lawyer and get the ticket reduced to a non-moving violation which should be easy to do if this is a first offense. DO NOT let your insurance company know you got a ticket!

it's possible now to do your school on-line, which I did just a couple months ago. I could do it on my own time, and it didn't take a full eight hours to do either. And you can do it at your convenience even if it means two am. It's an additional amt..mine was $39 extra to the superior court for taking traffic school and the school itself was only $14.95 - plus if you didn't pass a chapter test, you could go back and redo it. It was actually not that easy, you had to pay attention but it was SO awesome, then they send you the certificate in the mail - I had mine in three bus. days from when I finished the test. Plenty of time before the courts due date. The site I went to is approved by the courts here (you will get a huge list of those on the paperwork after they accept your posting the amt for traffic school). Check and see if it's accepted by yours:
dayornighttrafficschool.com - it was really convenient. Hope this helps. :)

Get the hearing re-scheduled during happy hour, the cop won't show up and you'll get off the ticket.

When you got pulled over, did you leave the toothpick and cigarette in your mouth when you told the patrolman to kiss you ass?

it doesn't go on your record - that's why you go to traffic school, so it doesn't effect your record. One is eligible for traffic school every 18 months. I have gotten three tickets and I did traffic school for each one. First was the all-day class....that was awful. Boring too. Second one was the tues/wed split class - four hours each night. That was just as bad. The last time I did it online and it was so easy and convenient. I did it while I was making dinner and in between chores. :)

No, you have to take the certificate you get at the end of the day to your insurance agent. They'll make a copy of it, and generally reduce your insurance rates about 10% for three years.

They won't know that you got a ticket, but they don't care, either. They prefer to insure drivers who have been reminded how to drive safely and legally.

39? Piker! If you're going to get a ticket you might as well go all the way. I recommend next time you go 79 in a school zone while driving under the influence, talking on a cell phone, in an SUV....

It also helps if you remind them that you are paying their salary.
