Absolutely beautiful, both the poem and the graphic.
Thank You.
Summers' fading fast
My flowers droop and hang their head
Soon the birds will all fly south
Now even my lovely garden's dead.
Soon dying leaves will fall
Swirling russet, orange and golden hue
The loneliness....will then set in
Causing me...to always think of you.
For you are gone far away
And I'm so alone.....
With only memories of our time
A love that really was sublime
When we held each other close
In an embrace of precious love.
Remembering our time together
Through all this changing weather
How I yearn for your return.
Then Autumn winds will blow
Ripping off the remaining leaves
The trees will then stand stark and bare
Then the sadness sets in and even deep despair.
The Winter wind races by
It chills my bones and stings my face
But in my heart....it is pure ice
In my soul a terrible, empty place.
Oh how I miss you
I wish you were here
To dry my tears and kiss me once again
Whisper gentle words into my ear
Words that heal and cause my heart to mend.
But Spring will come again
When lilacs perfume the air
Return to me...is my silent prayer.

Drivng the steamboat!?!
Nope, something ore important, Engineer!
The Captain can ring the bell and yell commands, the Purser can tie and untie his ropes all day, but if I don't make the tea kettle (boiler)hot enough for steam, we ain't moving this side of forever! ;^)
What fun it is, and how many guys can put that they are an Engineer on a 100 year old steamboat as job experience? It is just as it was in 1906 when it was build, and its like going back a bit in history to ride on it. Now that my knees are damaged by the accident, I may have to stop engineering, as its hard to get into the places in the engine space I have too. If that's the case, I'll work on the hull in the winter, polish the brass, or sand the woodwork, or sell tickets, but I will continue to have fun on the boat. I love volunteering at the museum anyway!
Oh wonderful Haiku! Gorgeous graphic.
Thank You and good night.
It burns the same fuel oil as a house furnace. Clean and soot free. The original fuel was coal, but to burn that today we would have had to make physical changes to the boat that would have ruined its original operations. Fuel oil was just becoming the fuel of choice in those days, so our conversion to fuel oil is still accurate for the museum display.
New Orleans
Yes, and I loved the city, music, food and ...we'll leave the rest unsaid. Truly a wonderful place, and thse folks know how to PARTY!
