Yes, are also aren't the pointies further apart in the next to the last photo? Perhaps it has snap-on interchangeable blades!
So, what is it and what is it for? Is this in the U.S.?
To: eastforker
I guess it would be overkill to rent one to put in my lawn sprinklers, then.

One of the machines has "Krupp" in the sign - this must be from Europe, Germany maybe. What do they use something this big for? It looks like it's about the size of that tractor they use to move the shuttle from the VAB to the launch pad.

Good lord, that is the largest, strangest-looking excavator I've ever seen. I can't imagine what it's used for- stripmining, perhaps... obviously, from the treads it is driven somewhere.
When I was a young fellow, it was rare to have even a tractor on a building site as a labor-saving device, but now I see all sorts of ( smaller ) exotic heavy equipment- line borers, ditchers, tracked backhoes. It makes you wonder where the money comes from to buy such stuff.

Growing up in Southern Illinois I got to see some of the biggest earth movers ever in the world at some of the biggest stip mines ever. One shovel had the capacity of ten RR box cars. I imagine they are even bigger today, that was 40 years ago.

1. I thought Krupp made coffee pots.
2. I guess the pill box warning "do not operate heavy machinery" would apply to this.

Notice in the 2nd pic that they covered the road with 10 feet of dirt so this excavator could cross it. Prbably to minimize damage. I wonder if they were successful.
