Well, they went and did it.
The Republicans look like they will wimp out, not exercise the so-called Nuclear Option, and Harry Reid will PERMIT two judges to be approved and disapprove four others. Does anyone think for a second the Democrats won't "go nuclear" in a heartbeat if the roles were reversed?
This seals the deal for me. I am a Republican no more. It seems it does not matter if I vote Republican anyways, all I get is more liberalism. I am a man without a political party. I am a conservative without a home.
Between Bushes enthusiastic embrace of illegal immigration, and our party's inability to get even moderately conservative judges approved, what's the freakin' point of voting Republican any more? What's the point of voting? I will get liberalism no matter how I vote. My main issue is guns, and it appears the Democrats have learned their lesson on that one, so it appears I will be safe on the firearms front. Everything else the Republicans stand for, they stand for in word only. They do not seem to want to act. Therefore, I do not seem to want to vote Republican any more.
This is my Opus -- not from Free Republic, but from the Republican party. Even when they have the majority, they surrender.
The Republican Party is the France of politics.

Stop repeating yourself.

So the monkeys AND the rabbit died!?!? DAMMITDAMMITDAMMIT. I thought they were just lightly stunned.
Guess that means we REALLY need to see that Tijuana 'dentist' we talked about. And you tell the cops NOTHING, you keep your trap SHUT, you hear me!
Oh, heck, I suppose you could just tell them I'm in Cleveland, and I'm not coming out without Dennis Kucinich's dignity.

Yeah, I thought we had you on that deportation thing.
Curses, foiled again!
"Lazamataz, Geek Lawyer!"
You're getting extremely hard to keep up with, but I'll try...
I'm willing to bring the toaster.
"That had to have made your weekend hell."
Only the indicted and deported parts, I'm sure. The pregnancy part was probably at least somewhat enjoyable. Unless it involved two large men holding his arms and another guy making him repeatedly yell "You're my daddy!"
I read the situation differently than you do. In the middle of trial when opposing counsel suddenly offers a compromise, that has a clear meaning. The other side is indicating that it knows it might lose, and that means it's time to settle if possible.
So, I read Reid's offer as an indication of weakness, that he knows he might lose the critical vote. That is, of course, the flip side of the news that Frist has the votes to win.
BTW, I agree with you that the Republican Party is politically worthless if it cannot accomplish this one critical result of majority votes only for ALL judicial nominees. But we are not at that point, yet.
Consider all the danger points in James Bond or Indiana Jones movies. It looks like all is lost, just before the hero prevails. Or consider bull fighting: In performing the veronica, the matador is as close to the bull as possible. Or consider that MASCAR drivers run at 200+ miles per hour, inches from the wall and/or from other cars.
In short, this is close, but not lost, won, or over, yet.
Congressman Billybob
During the long dark disastrous years of the Clinton cabal, Rush kept many of us going and energized. Making money off his ideology? Sure and why not? Lots better than getting power from ideology.
BUMP
Oh really? I always thought conservatives meant the world to the Republican party. Until I got on FR and people like you "learned" me better. /sarcasm
Spazamataz! You're still here. What a surprise!
Click here for the 'tator take on what is going on in the US Senate.
It seems that every quarter they are calling me on the phone wanting a contribution. The next time they call I plan on telling them that the President needs to fix the border problem per the citizens of the US of A's request before they will see another dime from me. As far as the elections go, research your canidate. Perhaps a personal inspection is in order to see if they have any nads.
i totally understand your feelings.
Our state GOP solicitors called the other day. I told them I was concerned about some recent legislation passed. This woman had no clue what I was even talking about.
Seems like your state is one of the only ones that produces nad-bearing politicians...at least Bush and Delay stand up for their convictions. I do wish the President would see the border issue differenty.
Sometimes I like to
illustrate what I'm saying.
It was a strong guy . . .
