Lazamataz's Opus: No longer a Republican (Vanity)
Now | Me

Posted on 04/26/2005 7:27:21 AM PDT by Lazamataz

Well, they went and did it.

The Republicans look like they will wimp out, not exercise the so-called Nuclear Option, and Harry Reid will PERMIT two judges to be approved and disapprove four others. Does anyone think for a second the Democrats won't "go nuclear" in a heartbeat if the roles were reversed?

This seals the deal for me. I am a Republican no more. It seems it does not matter if I vote Republican anyways, all I get is more liberalism. I am a man without a political party. I am a conservative without a home.

Between Bushes enthusiastic embrace of illegal immigration, and our party's inability to get even moderately conservative judges approved, what's the freakin' point of voting Republican any more? What's the point of voting? I will get liberalism no matter how I vote. My main issue is guns, and it appears the Democrats have learned their lesson on that one, so it appears I will be safe on the firearms front. Everything else the Republicans stand for, they stand for in word only. They do not seem to want to act. Therefore, I do not seem to want to vote Republican any more.

This is my Opus -- not from Free Republic, but from the Republican party. Even when they have the majority, they surrender.

The Republican Party is the France of politics.

Political parties suck. The existance of political parties and the so-called "two party system" has lead to the factionalism the framers warned us so strenuously about. Vote, don't vote, but whatever you do oil your guns and keep your powder dry.

Your leaving is a good thing for the Republicans, it raises their level of intelligence, property values, and lowers their criminal record.

Hey, I agree about Republicans, aside from caving in all the time, their fundamental political philosophy is the same as the Dems in that they believe government should play a major role in ordering society.

I'm not a Republican either - I vote for them because, for now, the way they want society ordered comes closer to how I think it should be. And because there are a few limited government types within the party, but none in the Dem Party. If I ever joined, it would be mostly out of anti Democratic Partyism.

I get emails from the Constitution Party. They start them with 'God, Family, Republic'. I agree they're slightly creepy. If only we could come up with something in between the Constitution and Libertarian parties.

I haven't been a member of any party in a long time. This whole 2 parties, and 2 parties only system is really frustrating. 'What are they going to do, vote Democrat?' - Gov. Bill Owens

And then there's stuff like this: Both parties in Colorado had good candidates for Senate, but they both chose mediocre people who they thought had the best chance to win. So now we have Sen. Ken Salazar, when we could have had Sen. Bob Schaffer.

How's the saying go? I didn't leave the party; It left me.

You must know that both of the major parties have internal schisms.

There are quite a few New England republicans who hose it up for the rest of us.

They are the problem.

I do think Frist ought to have the guts to take the constitutional option, but look what he has to work wit.

My thinking is that he knows he doesn't have the votes.

That doesn't justify neglecting his duty, but it wouldn't be a real consideration if New England could for one time field a real conservative.

Zell Miller was even more conservative than them before he turned on his own party.

Fine, say what you want about me.

Is it as celebratory to you that so many people agree with me?

You need to listen to Rush for a dose of reality.
Republicans are struggling all over the nation trying to do conservative things. You need to get a backbone and ignore/harrass/persuade RINOS.

Imagine living in NYS (the blue state that time has forgotten) and trying to do that every single day like I am! In cacademia yet.

Patience I have. But I know that even if the GOP promised me youth, they would not be able to deliver ;-)

Instead of sulking and leaving the GOP....get active!

How many Senators have you called about ending the filibuster on judicials nominees?

How many have you emailed?

How many letters to the editor explaining that the Dems are obstructing the Constitution, have you written?

How many friends have you asked to call this FREE Number to the US Capitol and demand that the GOP exercise the "Constitutionsl Option"?

I can never vote for a Democrat (exception: Zell Miller).

Zig Zag Zell stands for nothing. Voting for him you know exactly what you are getting, nothing but the direction the wind happens to be blowing. I have to wonder if were ever a Republican to begin with.

You need to listen to Rush for a dose of reality.

According to one poster, Rush was pretty much saying the same thing I was a few days back.

Sounds like he and I are on the same reality-page.

Only the extremely irrational would attempt to disagree with that obviously correct assessment, it's a matter of historical fact. Principled conservatives must never even consider condoning "liberalism" in any way. If not voting in the Dem/GOP political farce is the only way to make certain one is not being duped into supporting a mandate for socialist government, then that is what rational people must do.
