The 80s were a wasteland as far as movies go ( All I can think of is Barbra Streisand - UGH!), but if you like it, enjoy the movie!
Neighborhood excitement: the tall utility pole behind the house accros the street is burning: an electrical fire near the top. We can see it over the neighbor's roof..
It's a major pole, so if they can't isolate it, we'll likely lose power.
There are 4 big First Energy trucks strung out along the street in front of us.

No, "Bloodsport" is the one where he goes to Hong Kong for the martial arts tournament. This and "Universal Soldier" are my favorite van Damme movies.

One of my favorite movies is the John Wayne western The Cowboys...I catch myself using a line from that movie ever so often....."Let's get a move on we are burning daylight..."

Yes, I did se your threads. I have been busy today and haven't taken the time to answer.
Tomorrow will be the call to Voinovich's office, with hints of supporting a primary candidate.
Bah! We need better screening of Republican candidates!

I'd have to say my favorite John Wayne flick would be "The Quiet Man". The beauty of Ireland and the humor make it a delightful film. Another great one is "Red River".

"The Quiet Man" is one of my all-time favorite movies.
When I want to get my husband, I say to him in an Irish accent, "I want my money and things." LOL!

If you haven't seen this at the theater....please please rent it!
Hotel Rwanda is one of the best movies I've seen in a long, long time.
It should have gotten Best Picture, and definitely Cheadle should have received Best Actor!
It is a moving, thought provoking, true account of what happened (during Clinton's watch) in Rwanda during the 1994 Tutsi/Hutu uprising!....and you will be irate all over again with the U.N., Clinton and the French!!!
The movie is powerful and extremely well made.....
For the content, it is amazingly sex free, bad language minimal and even the atrocities are not 'in your face'...but held at a distance.
A movie worth seeing over and over....I've seen it twice!!!!
There are cameos by Joachim Phoenix, David O'Hara (of Braveheart fame), and Nick Nolte has a sizable part.
See Hotel Rwanda!!...It's PG13.

Another underrated movie is "Savior" with Dennis Quaid. He plays a gov't agent whose wife and child are killed by terrorists in Paris. He finds out they're just going to deport them and goes into a restaurant they're celebrating in and guns them down. He joins the Foreign Legion and ends up in Bosnia as a sniper. It's not a movie for the faint of heart, and it's a brutal portrayal of the ethnic cleansing that went on in Yugoslavia, but the ending is enlightening as well as heartwarming.

Thank goodness, but he and she will continue in our prayers. Still have company so I'll be here and there.
Hi kassie. "Full of prunes" is one of my familie's favorite descriptions of someone who is fun to be with.

I agree Gunnie.. it was an excellent movie... well done & heart wrenching. There were many good men up for great rolls in lead actor this year... as well as actress. I saw them all & overall agree that the right person won for both actor & actress. (at least in my opinion) Cheadle was good too.
Another one I am glad I saw was Born into Brothels.. winner of best foreign language flick. Another thought provoking movie..
Power has gone off 5 times in past hour (killing computer(. I did shut down once already but forgot to check something "imporant"... yea right!
BTW.. glad to see the update on "your baby"... I miss seeing my grandkids. A pix now & then will have to do. Most of you are fortunate to be so close to your little ones.
night all..

Wish I could sleep, please someone, tell me what is like.
ANOTHER Dr's appointment next week, going to fun the ole scope to see if any blockage has occurred in my heart, all kind of electronic tests yesterday. Of course I am the voice of doom, he started telling me about where he would insert the whatever to see about blockage and course the first thing I started thinking, 'hope I make it'. He is not concerned, I am, my heart, my life.
