Hello.
Secret O' Life is one of my all-time favorite songs by James Taylor, and NL does it better....I still like Not Quite Paris....very moody....;-)
Just emptied "bins"... I have 4 large garbage bins near the house at areas of flooding. they were filled & I bucket by bucket empty them. (otherwise I empty them from the basement ...ala Neets.) a much harder job. More storms coming & I want to be as much ahead as possible.
I think I have a couple Buster Keaton..
I ordered mine many years ago. There was a special of sorts as I recall. I think I got about 50 movies for about 200.. John wayne, Hope, Stanwyck, Katerine Hepburn.. etc.. Each in own case & like a typical VCR movie.
We also have a close out store that now & then has some oldies for about a dollar/flick. I picked up about 20 that way last year. If I already had it, I gave it to aunt who is also a movie fanatic..
I have by in large taped a lot of movies also over the years.. Many of them at lower quality & three movies to tape. My collection is VERY large of VCR movies. Storage is alwasy a problem. they are cataloged & on one of the comptuers is an excel file with names, data & coding (my own Dewey system?)
collection of DVDs is about hurdred or so. much smaller. much more expensive & I am much more broke but I often rent or get them from library if I missed them at theater. I do try to see all large screen type movies on big screen. Many are "story line " type.. and my projection TV does fine for them.. no need for dolby surround sound & digital imaging. I love the special features etc in DVDs..
off to store - in between storms
:)
Be careful.
Oh bother.....;-))
I know for a fact I have seen Waterloo Bridge...recently. The others I'm not sure of. They sound familar.
BTW, I'm not sure if you saw my post to Raven, but I was havening problems with RR. Just like clockwork it would shutdown ...every 12 hours. Well, this week we have not had to unplug the modem or restart the computer. We had a guy come out a few weeks ago. He blamed it on the splitter and yet after he replaced said splitter it continued...up until this week.
Oops! Forgot to ask why do so many repairmen not know what the heck they are doing?
Idiots!!
Well, I feel sorry for the 'repairmen', because hooking up cable TV is not exactly the same thing as understanding digital communications....the guys they sent here had just been trained and they were barely hanging on, and I gave them as much info as I could to help them...they were really happy when I gave them the right hints...;-))
I'm so glad to hear that Emily is doing so well. I've missed her updates.
Waterloo Bridge...yes...
Not Quite Paris...Looking forward to hearing it.
lysie, Buster Keaton was a favorite of my father's...
In the early winter of '73, before I left to join my husband in S. Korea, my father & I took the train into the Art Institute in Chicago which was having a Buster Keaton Film Festival. It was a pretty cold night on the Lakefront! But how my father laughed & enjoyed those old movies! I will never forget that!
I've beem watching some of the old comedies on TCM this month as well. Fatty Arbuckle, Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin (I have a bunch of Chaplin's stuff on tapes) and Harold Lloyd. I've also been enjoying the old Errol Flynn movies this month - yum.
Tim Allen
A good month to watch TCM.
Cary Grant is on tonight.
