AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 1551) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
All of Us | April 20, 2005 | Various News Sources and FReepers

Posted on 04/19/2005 10:53:23 PM PDT by lysie

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!

Good morning!!

Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

A new Pope is elected, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger who has chosen the name, Pope Benedict XVI. The libs are whining already about how it could result in “continued internal dissension within the church.”

President Bush will more than likely be naming Marine Gen. Peter Pace as the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Pace will be replacing Air Force Gen. Richard B. Myers. You served us well General Myers. You will be missed.

John Bolton’s nomination as ambassador to the United Nations is postponed. Remember the names Republican Sens. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska and George Voinovich of Ohio. They are wimping out on us.

I'll have to think about that.

While, perhaps, it wasn't fair that in the early years actors and actresses were owned by the studio , but boy...did they produce a lot of talent.

Some of today's celebs are spoiled brats with little talent.

Sarah also has noticed that the older movies had lots of dialogue. Today's movies are based on special affects.

Lysie, I hope all goes well with Sarah.. life never hands us the expected, it seems...

power was out a couple hours here. heavy rains.. but everything was so dry.. really needed it. Want to burn to large piles in back yard & was hesitant with all being so dry. It is illegal to burn outside & I normally don't. A lot of folks do.. every night the air is full of smells of leaves/wood burning.. Haven't had my windows open for that reason. I normally mulch, compost. I have put about 2/3 into that but just am overwhelmed this year. We had a lot of trees/limbs down from winter deluge...

later guys

Why what Nita? That I should clean out the van before getting it re-clutter tomorrow?

Is your foot iced & propped??

Bit...back to Nancy LaMott & the Tavern album...My favorite songs are: Listen to my Heart...Saiin' On...I didn't know what time it Was....Help is on the Way...Secret of Life.

As she introduces Help is on the Way...and mentions people going thru some hard times, her voice breaks and catches. Then she pulls herself together & the pro that she is, goes on to sing the piece beautifully.

Right now I have some good movies...from TCM, taped, & ready for us to watch: Dawn Patrol...

a British POW drama with Dirk Bogarde....

Some other WWII movie...forget the name...

These are for the NON- baseball nights, you understand ;^))

Yes, the older movies have character development, good story lines...

THE ONE MOVIE I'm still waiting for to make it to video/DVD: The High & the Mighty, a '50s John Wayne movie.

I have all of those movies Lysie...actually I have a large collection of the "oldies"...

When I have time to watch a DVD or video at home however I am drawn more to special effects.. the old classics are nice to depending on mood. I am a matrix, star wars, LOTR enthusiast.

ABG...Sin City is interesting for many reasons...The interwoven story line eventually connects & was a little difficult for me to follow. Several of the characters were parodys of sorts... The evening I went it was a packed theater. There were many couples of all ages but the overall grouping was of young men.. 20-35...age groupings..Not an overall date type movie. It is of the Tarentino variety but the visuals were something like I have never seen before ...I think it will get an academy cinematography nod, despite the fact this "type" of movie, rarely does.

BTW, I liked both of the Kill Bills.. you have to take each type of movie for what they are. It had more blood than I would have preferred but in general I recall other things from the movie rather than the violence. And I think you are right about being a bit of his own parody..spoof..

A couple interesting flicks coming up this summer.. of course May 19 is the big one for me..

I need to take care of some buiness now...

:)
