Raptor
OVER CALIFORNIA -- An F/A-22 Raptor flies a training mission here.
But when it comes to beauty, no airship of any kind will ever surpass the F-15:
OoOps -- that was a shot I got when I did a google image search for "F-15." Here's what I was looking for:
You know what. We are on the same wavelength. The F-15 is my favorite also. :P I have to admit the Raptor is better and could take it out easily.... But I have a fond love for the F-15 :D It just looks so cool.
I have heard that when they added a lot of armor to the F-22 it slowed it down to make it even with the F-15. But I also heard they overcame that problem and the F-22 is the new air superiority aircraft.
And it is pretty enough -- a lot better than the F-117 (blech). But the F-15 is so graceful -- it looks like it is flying even when on the ground.
Gone are days of the truly beautiful aircraft (the F-14 is another fave of mine, and the F/A-18 ain't bad either). OTOH they have yet to make a jet as ugly as the F-1 Phantom (lol).
by god, I think they gone and slapped some wings on a tank. :D
It may be as ugly as sin, but it sure does the job it was designed to perform as well as possible. My daughters know full well and will tell you this baby is "One bad-ass tank killer!"
I know, thr A-10 is one "badass" machine. :D That gun is a BFG.
The A-10 is so ugly it hurts. But there are few things in the air more beautiful to a ground pounder in need of some help.
It's design makes it surprisingly quiet on approach---well, until that BFG starts burping. There is nothing that has better loiter time and survivability over a hot zone as that beautiful ugly beast. The payload it is capable of bringing to bear on a situation is enormous. For the kind of engagements our guys are involved in these days, we should have 10 times as many of these hell-breathing animals as are in the theater.
I want an A-10 for commuting!
