There seem to be a few hold outs yet, but I chose to not reply. We had company during the show so I stayed in the living room.
I think its going to be a toss up on who goes between Anthony and Vonzell. I thought they both has poor 1st songs and good second songs.
To: Netizen
You're probably right about Anthony going tomorrow. But then again, we've sure had some surprises this season.
But this week or next, Anthony is probably gone. :-(

Thanks for the funny Idol ping.
I was out tonight assisting at a high school function. TheHusband taped the show for me tonight though.
Bo & Carrie rocked the house!!
I predict Vonzell will go home tomorrow night. (I will be assisting at another high school function, so that show will also have to be taped).

I've never taken the time to vote for Vonzell. I feel bad about that. She's such a sweet thing.

Yea, me too. She's a Beautiful girl and I like that she's a "mailman". I think at this stage - the final five- they all have a great opportunity for sucess. A lot of doors have been opened, so I hope they take advantage of it.

I feel the same way. They can all do well at this point if they just keep at it.
Vonzell is a little darling.

. He could rock, he could sing ballads and his version of My Funny Valentine was one of the best I've ever heard, I agree with you. Alot of people don't like him, but I think he is talented.

Good show tonight! And I saw something I never would have dreamed possible ... a halfway decent performance from Slingblade!
Anthony has grown on me personality-wise, but neither of his songs tonight were impressive. Given that, plus Scott's mischievous worst-one-wins lobby, I think he'll be gone tomorrow.
Bo certainly looked the most relaxed on stage, and had a definite "pro" quality (as Simon remarked upon), but I found his singing unimpressive tonight. He is good at picking songs that fit his range, but let's face it, that's because he doesn't HAVE much of a range! He seems like a very nice fellow and it wouldn't upset me unduly if he wins, but I don't really think he deserves it.
Vonzell is a very charming young lady with a brilliant smile and terrific pipes! I had to agree with Simon, though, that her first song was a bit of a mess -- the beginning seemed very unfocused (though I think that was partly the arrangement and the conductor -- they were really drowning her out -- perhaps on purpose?). But the ending was terrific, I thought. Second song, very nice also, though she REALLY needs to work on her head voice. Whenever she crosses that bridge between midvoice and head voice, it's kind of a shaky journey ... but I think that is simply because she is young, and women's voices don't fully mature until 30 or 35. Also, she relies on her chest and midvoice too much because they are naturally so good. (I think Anthony suffers from a similar malady. His thin voice is largely the result of being young, I think. If he keeps working on it, he might have an impressive voice -- in a few years, though, not now.)
Carrie has the most finished voice, though not the most finished performance. She tore it up with the first song (good for her!) but I had to agree with Simon that she looked robotic on the second. But her singing was very, very nice on the second song. I hope she heads toward a country career -- that seems to be her natural forte.
All in all, votes from me for Vonzell and Carrie. Who will win overall? No clue. This competition is largely a popularity contest, and I'm having a difficult time figuring out who is most popular now (especially since they booted Connie, my favorite, last week! Did you hear the audience boo that outcome again this week?)

BO definitely will be a success from this IDOL show - whether he takes the first prize home or not.
He's the best, most natural talent, Carrie is 2nd.

II think Anthony will be the one to go. His performance especially on his first song was the worst. I actually have to say that Slingblade did a good job. He did a well with "On Broadway." I still think that Bo and Carrie are clearly better than the rest. Having the two of them last really showed the difference. They are the pros. I'm not sure why Vonz has been at the bottom the last couple of weeks. She always seems to have a good performance. She is much better than Slingblade and Anthony. I predict Anthony will go tonight.

I hope Scott goes tonight, he makes me cringe.

Two contrasting styles tonight... but some things remain the same nonetheless -- all of our final five flaws, and they seem to remain the same: Bo really doesn't have much of a singing voice, despite a great stage presence; Carrie and Anthony just the opposite; Vonzelle has all of the pieces, but is inconsistent; and Scott may hit the notes, but doesn't have a good tonal quality or emotional response.
So... on to the rankings...
- Vonzelle -- Her first song was pretty middle of the road, forgettable even, but the second song was the performance of the night (and it's always better to start weak and finish strong than vice-versa). I continue to maintain that she is the only person in the top 12 who really has the makings for being a "pop star".
- Bo -- Uneven night for the rocker. He had the best first song, though I could still tell his vocal limitations in that song. The second song wasn't as good, and frankly was a bit boring (especially with the over-used "carry the microphone stand" thing... yeah, I know it's your trademark, but it's silly -- get a new trademark).
- Carrie -- A better job than the last few weeks, especially on the first number, which I had some issue with as it didn't really allow her to showcase her voice to its fullest, but the energy was great. The second song, while sung well, lacked that energy. Carrie also has a tendency to "swallow" the microphone, which seems to hide half her face much of the time.
- Scott -- His father wasn't there, so he didn't completely suck. "On Broadway" was a clever choice, and I liked the bit with Simon, but honestly, he really didn't sing it all that well, and the second song was quite muddled, especially in the chorus (so to speak). I also really have a problem with his tone... he hits the notes (most of the time) but doesn't seem to have the support behind it.
- Anthony -- This is the week we discover the actual power of Anthony's fan base, because he's going to need them to survive. The first song looked like a high school amateur night entry, and bordered on drawing a negative comparison to John Peter Lewis -- worst of all, it completely took away his best asset, which is his voice. The second song was sung better, but he still looks like he doesn't know what to do on the stage. And how can I avoid the "boy band singer" comment when he chooses to do a Backstreet Boys song?
At this point, it's fruitless to speculate as to who the audience will choose, as for the most part, they've picked their favorites and will continue to vote for them. If we assume that last week's relative standings are intact, Anthony and Scott are already in trouble and did themselves no favors last night. But where will the Constantine bloc go?

Your analysis is pretty good, but you missed the fact that Vonzelle was OFF KEY for all of both of her songs.
She is pretty and the camera loves her, but Vonzelle is a terrible singer. Her "Star Search" reach she puts in each song is holding her aloft, but sooner or later the audience has to realize she can't sing.
Carrie does well when she pts herself out there -- but she should avoid ballad-type material. She dissapears. But she hits the notes.
I think this is between Bo and Carrie.

Because they shouldn't have won. Clay and Latoya, IMHO. Replace Latoya with Diana, and I'd agree with you. Latoya started mailing it in and kept too aloof, and it cost her.

I just meant that we watched AI in the living room, instead of me being in the computer room watching AI and posting at the same time.
Don't you just hate that, when people call you in the middle of 'your' show, especially when they 'know' that you like to watch that show? :)
