New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |

Still round the corner there may wait |

Home is behind, the world ahead, |
These are the doors in the new apartment, not the old one.
Whew, got the shelves moved. Nothing more I can do until the muscle arrives.
Heh...you could pitch a fit....get a rebate or something.
It's just dirt. I already complained because the screen door part was bent and ripped and sagging and they're going to put in a new one.
I don't pitch fits. It works to my advantage when, say, I want to switch to a different apartment before my lease is actually up. I also make sure to always pay my rent in person and with a smile. Life's just easier when people think you're a decent human being. Of course I'm not...
Sure you are, but it's fun to keep people guessing. ;o)
Nah, I'm a bad misanthropic sort. But nobody likes to do things to help that sort of person so I pretend I'm not.
Argh, came within one percent of making an A on the important midterm. Can't figure out what my grade on the other midterm actually means, but it's not as bad as the one in the class I dropped. Hopefully, I can get at least a B in the software spec class, and maybe an A in the distributed systems class.
Reminds me of my just younger sister. She says she hates people, and for the most part she means it. There are some folks she likes or loves, but she's very selective. ;o)
I've always thought it was because her chosen profession, Criminal Justice, always presented her with the dregs of society. Right now, she runs an alternative sentencing program for folks convicted of drug charges. It's a limited population, they cannot have been convicted of selling drugs, or of a violent crime. The folks she has have to stay clean for two years or they get sent to Parchman Prison in MS, where they do NOT want to be! She's diligent about testing these folks twice a week, helps them find jobs, and encourages them to move away from their old friends, since they are usually too much of a temptation to fall back into the drug scene.
She calls them her goobers cause she says they're so stupid. As I said, she hates people. ;o)
Yup, people are stupid. And selfish. And mostly unlikable. I dislike "people" but I like individuals. Sort of the opposite of liberal-types who loooove everyone but hate you personally.
Reminds me of the lyrics in a song from the musical "Hair"
How can people be so heartless?
How can people be so cruel?
Easy to be hard
Easy to be cold
How can people have no feelings?
You know Im hung up on you
Easy to be proud
Easy to say no
Especially people
Who care about strangers
Who care about evil
And social injustice
Do you only care about the bleeding crowd?
How about a needing friend?
I need a friend
So my balcony here faces east; it's afternoon and it's still getting direct sunlight. I think it's possible for me to grow some plants. Do either of you have any resources you'd suggest, or should I just go to the garden store and look pitiful?
I'd like a few herbs, but mostly flowers (Rosie can add to the list when she gets here). There's a nice wide ledge, and I could hang stuff overhead too. Help?
I like lavendar but more for it's smell than for it's flower so I guess you would call it an herb. One herb I just have to have is basil. I've also got chives (I use it on salads sometimes instead of green onions), mint (I use mostly in tea). Lemon balm (smells like lemon) and catnip I use mostly in tea...that's my "sleepy time blend". Miss Cat seems to prefer store-bought catnip so she doesn't bother my stuff much. I've also got parsley and lemon grass. Lemon grass is supposed to be used in Asian dishes but so far I've only used it in tea. I've got some rosemary that I like to use with chicken and some thyme I put in soup. I guess your herb selection depends on what kind of cooking you like.
Oh yeah...and I've got an aloe plant that's trying to take over the world. I'm afraid of what it'll do if I ever give it a fertilizer stick! :)
Aloe is good to put on burns...a medicinal herb.
Of course, with me being a hobbit I'm more partial to culinary herbs.
And don't forget the bay tree. That way you will never run out of bay leaves. You just trim the tree up and dry the leaves, voila. Or you can use them fresh. LSA
Does bay do well here? I kept killing them in NC.
Oh, those are nice ideas. I wouldn't mind fresh basil or chives at all.
All the furniture is moved. Unfortunately the bookshelf would not go into the bedroom. Alas... so I'm still experimenting with the livingroom setup.
I can't...
just leave
this here...
thing...
Precious!
