The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I just got a small shipment of loot from freeper tongue-tied, from somewhere afloat. He and his guys received some of our HH pocket knives, and they were gracious enough to send this stuff, which will be prizes at shootmoot. There will be four t-shirts, and four decals.

the safety brief will be severe... "I'm wearing a sidearm... if any of you lose your mind a point a weapon at another person, I will shoot you dead to protect the innocent..."

Had one guy in Basic stupidly swing his weapon across the other shooters on the firing line. He was instantly jumped by a dozen range officers and Drill Sergeants and hauled behind the latrine, where they beat the crap out of him. The hospital wrote up his injuries as "fell down the steps", and we all swore to that.

Kinda nifty, although the software is still kinda lightweight. That will improve, though.

I have a catalog and a url for all sorts of wireless and wired video equipment, including cameras hidden in things you would never guess. Some of it is vey high-end, and probably intended for spooks and professionals. But a lot of it is moderately priced. They have lots of IR-illuminated stuff, but no passive IR, at least not in the catalog.

Let me know if you're interested.

Good Morning All - crisp this morning it is...

Brought a goodly amount of 'homework' but more pleasant surroundings here than in my cubicle.

Hair - good luck with the interviewee today.

g'nad - 'daylight in the swamp'. One day club show tomorrow, we'll see what bargains(?) are available.

OT - too brisk for gardening, sigh.

'Morning!

Yep, it's a bit too brisk for me! I think I'll repot some houseplants and pick out a few to take to TheNewOffice. Laundry is scheduled for today and I think I'll start patching the walls in the bedroom and get my shopping list for painting. Hope there's enough "Antique White" in the garage to do the ceiling.

Right now Miss Cat has me cat-trapped.

Good morning all... I've been up and watching for this potential farm sitter lady to come. She said she'd come early, but we didn't name a time, I was curious to know what she considers 'early' ;~D. The horses are waiting for breakfast, I want to wait if possible for her to be here for that.

Had to put the pony's spare blanket on last night, she ripped one of her straps again. I've fixed it this morning while I had coffee. It's gonna be drizzley and wet today, not sure what's on our agenda.

'Morning! Hope the horsesitter works out. At least horses don't claw you in the face if you're late with breakfast.

OB: I've got a whole gallon of "Living Room Green" and "Bathroom Purple." I don't especially like the purple, but we'll see. I've got two partial cans of "Antique White" - both enamel semi gloss. I'm thinking about mixing the two and I'll have enough to do the ceiling.

Morning Hair, 'early' must vary with the individual, early for a Saturday may be different than early on a weekday. Still...

Grow lights are cool, I think we still have one. (someplace).

I thought enamel was for woodwork instead of walls and ceilings. but we mostly paper both. not much interior painting here, just some trim.

I use enamel for kitchens and bathrooms...places where you might have to scrub or with high humidity.

Nahhh..don't want to put purple back in the bathroom. Maybe I could use it for a trim, but I don't want the walls to be solid purple when I repaint.

Morning.... ugh, forgot to take the shelves out of the bookcase and bring them down last night, so guess I'd better do that soon. Guys are coming at one to haul furniture.

And I've got to do that, too, if I can, at the old place...

The glass balcony doors are just filthy... have to scrub them at some point soon. It'll have to take a number, though, I've got a lot to do.

No, they ought to be clear but there are all these tiny little smears. It really looks bad when I've got the blinds open so I can get some light in.

*Shrug* close the blinds before you leave.
