Why do men want younger women? (huh?)

Q: I'm a woman in my "little" 30s and I am wondering: Why is it that men my age only want to date women in their 20s or early 30s? I've toyed with the idea of posting a personal ad on an online dating service, but when I went through the listings, it seemed that the men my age only wanted to date women ages 21 to 30! I feel so discouraged.

A: Men are pigs. This is my clinical observation, based on 12,464 interviews with single men over the last few years. And it's not only a woman's point of view. In fact, "men are pigs" is a direct quote from my husband, who is happy to trash his youth-obsessed gender.

Now the good news: The best thing about online dating is just what you have discovered. Individuals' profiles can be as revealing as an FBI dossier, but funnier! Do we really believe he keeps both "The Brothers Karamazov" and Playboy on his nightstand? Um, no.

Men want younger women because they are well...younger, probably attractive and they make the guy look like he's got "it."

An old boyfriend of mine liked older women. My ex-husband, who is 37, married a woman that is 10 years younger than he is after we divorced. My husband is only three years older than I am. I don't think that it's accurate or fair to say men prefer this or men prefer that. Each man is an individual and has individual preferences.

Exactly correct. I didn't wire my brain, but it seems to be wired like the other men who've told me their preferences. And there's no doubt that a young, beautiful woman is more sexually attractive than an older beautiful woman. Case closed. I didn't make the rule, but I know an anvil when one hits me on the head.

Perhaps the question's author should sit down and figure out why more women prefer older men, and then take some reverse logic insight from that exercise.

Look at the polygamists. At age 50, they do not marry 48 year olds. They already have a brood of 30 - 50 year olds. They marry 15 year olds.

I don't know a thing about the psychology of polygamy and won't purport to, but from the outside it seems the first time they marry is for love and everything thereafter is just sex. I've seen several exposes on polygamy that support this where the 20 yr. long wife is jealous of the 15 yr. old new wife. Like, duh?

And to me that proves that 99% of the male species are just perverts. And the other 1% belong to Free Republic. (in hope of redeeming myself....lol)
