Just for levity and to give us all a respite from the troubles of the world, I would like to throw out a question. What do you consider to be the greatest non-country driving songs of all time. So far my list contains the following:
Radar Love (In my opinion the absolute best)-Golden Earring; Magic Carpet Ride-Steppenwolf; Riders On The Storm-The Doors; Two Tickets To Paradise-Eddie Money; Born to Be Wild-Steppenwolf; Born To Run-Bruce Springsteen; Paradise by the Dashboard Lights-Meatloaf; Fire-Jimmie Hendrix; Hollywood Nights-Bob Seeger
So what do you think? Let's here your suggestions.
"I can't drive ... 55"
You can dance if you want to.
Took my answer!
Do You Feel Like We Do (Live, of course) - Peter Frampton
"Midnight Rider," "Ramblin' Man," and "Melissa" by the Allman Brothers would all make my Top Ten, too.
Judas Priest - Breaking the Law
Scorpions - Rock You Like a Hurricane
Sammy Hagar - I Can't Drive 55
Poison - Nothin' But a Good Time
When I am out of the city, I like having instrumental "new age" music playing. If you are viewing nice open scenery, the soothing music helps to enhance the experience.
I've used these as background in home videos I've produced and received compliments on them.
Now, as to pop songs with lyrics, I guess I like what I like whether it's in the car or not. The tunes you named are good.
Affirmation-George Benson
God Made Convertibles-Whiteheart (Christian Rock Band)
Almost anything by Earth Wind and Fire
Nobody did driving tunes like Chuck Barry.
Anything from ZZ Tops 1st 5 albums. Especially La Grange, Arrested for Driving While Blind, and Pan Am Highway Blues. Nothing else comes close.
Electric - The Cult
By the very talented and very Republican Sammy Hagar...
"Agile, Mobile and Hostile" by Andre Williams.
Fire Woman is also good.
"She Sells Sanctuary" by The Cult.
Hot Rod Lincoln
Beep Beep (Little Nash Rambler)
Zap - Eric Johnson
Tube snake boogie!
"Roll On Down The Highway" Bachman Turner Overdrive.
Beethoven's 9th Symphony rocks on the highway, too.
you mentioned riders on the storm . . . thats good at night or in the rain. made me think of L.A. woman - another good doors song for driving.
