Greatest non-country driving songs

Just for levity and to give us all a respite from the troubles of the world, I would like to throw out a question. What do you consider to be the greatest non-country driving songs of all time. So far my list contains the following:

Radar Love (In my opinion the absolute best)-Golden Earring; Magic Carpet Ride-Steppenwolf; Riders On The Storm-The Doors; Two Tickets To Paradise-Eddie Money; Born to Be Wild-Steppenwolf; Born To Run-Bruce Springsteen; Paradise by the Dashboard Lights-Meatloaf; Fire-Jimmie Hendrix; Hollywood Nights-Bob Seeger

So what do you think? Let's here your suggestions.

"Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" is a good one that's not so mellow...

Wholeheartedly agree with "Free Bird"; the only problem is that when the guitars really get cranking, you look down and you're going 100 miles per hour.

.38 Special
Hold on Loosely

You see it all around you
Good lovin' gone bad
And usually it's too late when you, realize what you had
And my mind goes back to a girl I left some years ago,
Who told me
Just Hold On Loosely
But don't let go
If you cling to tightly
you're gonna lose control
Your baby needs someone to believe in
And a whole lot of space to breathe in
It's so damn easy, when your feelings are such
To overprotect her, to love her too much
And my mind goes back to a girl I left some years ago
Who told me
Just Hold On Loosely
But don't let go
If you cling too tight babe
you're gonna loose control
Your baby needs someone to believe in
And a whole lot of space to breathe in
Don't let her slip away
Sentimental fool
Don't let your heart get in her way

"Beep,Beep" you're showing your age on that one.

The guy who wrote the song has been a client of mine for a few years...

At the helm of the scooter! :)

This puts all other car songs to shame.
It is so much better than the rest.

Thunder Road
Performed by Robert Mitchum

Let me tell the story, I can tell it all
About the mountain boy who ran illegal alcohol
His daddy made the whiskey, son, he drove the load
When his engine roared, they called the highway Thunder Road.

Sometimes into Ashville, sometimes Memphis town
The revenoors chased him but they couldn’t run him down
Each time they thought they had him, his engine would explode
He'd go by like they were standin’ still on Thunder Road.

And there was thunder, thunder over Thunder Road
Thunder was his engine, and white lightning was his load
There was moonshine, moonshine to quench the Devil’s thirst
The law they swore they'd get him, but the Devil got him first.

On the first of April, nineteen fifty-four
A Federal man sent word he’d better make his run no more
He said two hundred agents were coverin’ the state
Whichever road he tried to take, they’d get him sure as fate.

Son, his Daddy told him, make this run your last
The tank is filled with hundred-proof, you’re all tuned up and gassed
Now, don’t take any chances, if you can’t get through
I’d rather have you back again than all that mountain dew.

And there was thunder, thunder over Thunder Road
Thunder was his engine, and white lightning was his load
There was moonshine, moonshine to quench the Devil’s thirst
The law they swore they'd get him, but the Devil got him first.

Roarin’ out of Harlan, revvin’ up his mill
He shot the gap at Cumberland, and screamed by Maynordsville
With T-men on his taillights, roadblocks up ahead
The mountain boy took roads that even Angels feared to tred.

Blazing right through Knoxville, out on Kingston Pike,
Then right outside of Bearden, they made the fatal strike.
He left the road at 90; that’s all there is to say.
The devil got the moonshine and the mountain boy that day.

And there was thunder, thunder over Thunder Road
Thunder was his engine, and white lightning was his load
There was moonshine, moonshine to quench the Devil’s thirst
The law they swore they'd get him, but the Devil got him first.

The law they swore they'd get him, but the Devil got him first.

"Got The Time"-Anthrax
"Crazy Train"-Ozzy Osbourne
"Freebird"(live version)-Lynyrd Skynyrd

Anything by Marilyn Manson when stuck on the I-10, the 405, or the 605. "Speed of Pain" is especially good. So is their remake of "I Put a Spell on You".

There are also some BEAUTIFUL trax from the the Sea World cd, believe it or not.

ACDC:
Back In Black
Shoot To Thrill
Highway To Hell
Shook Me All Night Long
Hells Bells
Have A Drink On Me

The only time I listen to ACDC is on a road trip.

Dylan's "Highway 61"
Waylon's "Lonesome, Orn'ry and Mean"

Anyone who'd disagree on those is obviously ignorant and tasteless!

"Theme from Peter Gunn," by Henry Mancini

Good choice, but it causes me to shoot my rocket launcher and machine guns at other vehicles and/or generally run them off the road.

It's not a driving disk, but when I run, I have a disk that has Highway Star-L A Woman-Baker Street-It Keeps You Runnin'-Frankenstein - Boston's Foreplay/Long Time and Radar Love.

It's a great way to keep up the pace. (The slow Doobie Brothers song is for the fourth mile, when I need to rebuild my strength.
