*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I was just kidding about the Princess thing.

Hair said you had a hard time breathing after hauling hay the other day. My husband has to wear a mask or it gets to him too. Hay's just dusty no matter where it's kept and if you have any grass allergies at all, it's murder to haul. I have to have on long sleeves when I mess with it coz it'll cause me to break out in a rash wherever it sticks me.

Good morning everyone ~

Ask them why a high school history class is devoting time to art history? Are the kids so far ahead of the rest of the state/nation in world history and US history/civics that they can afford to spend time on what should be a college course? Can the kids test out on the SAT and pass world history and US history with flying colors? Perhaps the teacher/school's time would be better spent ensuring that considering the amount of money you are paying them.

Good morning,
I agree with you - don't defend your actions, insist that the school stay on subject - the book.

That is a very good point and one I will be sure to bring up if I have to discuss this further. I'm hoping that this thing has legs now and the other parents outrage will be enough to get rid of this disgusting book. I still can't believe that the school is trying to defend it. They depend on donations and tuition to keep the school going so you'd think they would bend over backwards to make things right and keep the parents happy. Nope, they want us to keep our mouths shut and our wallets open.

Yeah, I found out about wearing long sleeves the hard way when we got a load of hay last year. I think I finally got everything coughed out of my lungs.

Do some research on what are required high school classes in your area. It's been a long while since my son was in high school and even longer since I was. Then something like art history would have been an elective. Is this a world history class? With all the changes in the world in the past fifty years alone, how did they find time to get sidetracked into art?

You might mention the possibility that the rest of the textbooks used by this school might be similarly inappropriate for the courses necessary to graduate.

I attended a Christian High School for three years and transfered to a public high for my last year. I had to take summer school classes to get the courses necessary for graduation. Something to keep in the back of your mind. My mother never checked and if I had stayed in the Christian School through graduation, I would not have been able to go to any college except the same denomination's Christian college. That was not deliberate on the part of the school, just ignorance of state requirements.

A photo of how we spilt the middle field in two to let the mares and foals be right next to each other and have more space.

if he sells, he sells all, but if he rents he is renting the doublewide with about 20 acres, but there are trails on the property that venture out.
It is a lovely place.
It already has barns, round pen horse fencing..........

The foals have been nosing each other at the temporary fence and the mares dont seem to mind. We thought by doing it this way, it would be better.
