*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Previous threads:

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - thread ONE
The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - Thread TWO!
The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - Thread THREE!

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!

Greenacres, Washington is apparently clear over in Eastern Wa... an Eastern suburb of Spokane. That's unfortunate... but I guess we aren't really ready to buy yet anyhow, until Dad really makes up his mind about the truck.

Overall, it seems to be a nice trailer.

It does look like a good trailer for us... and the price is sure good. I wonder about the floor. They said the mats are in good shape, but that's not really the important part ;~D

I hope when we look we can find a dandy used one, that would be good indeed.

I have replaced the floor in mine twice. The first time I used red oak, this time treated pine. Oak is heavy duty but expensive and hard to find now.

scripture being thrown in my face is the one about going to the person you have a problem with, Matthew something)

They are quoting scripture at you about sending email to the school and parents about the book? Good grief. How unprofessional.

I agree with Becky... I wouldn't respond to personal attacks at you at all. I'd just reply with a pointed question about whether such vulgar language in the book is really appropriate for anyone, let alone kids. That's the issue. Pull the book.

It really isn't hard to replace a trailer floor, IF you have the tools to do it with.? Cutting torch, saw.

We have a pretty good collection of tools, but we'd probably still have it done professionally, if/when needed.

I really like that new MorganBuilt trailer we looked at... and the price isn't really all that bad. Buying that one, or a used one of the same model, at least we'd know it's the lightest out there, and still a good sound trailer.

Titus 2:6-8

6. Similarly, encourage the young men to be selfcontrolled. 7. In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness 8. and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.

We've got a relatively high area for the house. It's just all the low land around it that's the pain. (Notice I said "relatively". I don't know that we'd be able to dig a basement without having a swimming pool under the house.) The skeeters are awful in the summertime. I'm definately considering getting one of those Mosquito Magnets that'll cover at least a half acre, otherwise I don't think I'll be able to set foot outside for any length of time. I don't know if they really work or not so if anybody has one, let me know before I spend $300.

The lake is a good idea. We were thinking about that, maybe make it a catfish pond. Trouble is, we'd need 5 or 6 of them! ;o)

Morning everyone! Been doing some techie stuff with my computers this morning, general maintence, and right now I'm listining to some slow Celtic music that is putting me to sleep again. *yawn*
Frog, we have a lot of standing water right here now too, and our ground is a soupy sloppy awful mess because of all the melting snow. We have ice too under the soup, so that makes for some slippery surprises.

We bought one of those mosquito things last year, but never got round to hooking it up. Our friends have one and they do work! : D

Or you might like this one... Psalm 101:2-4

2. I will be careful to lead a blameless life- when will you come to me? I will walk in my house with blameless heart. 3. I will set before my eyes no vile thing. The deeds of faithless men I hate; they will not cling to me. 4. Men of perverse heart shall be far from me; I will have nothing to do with evil.

it doesn't surprise me that Blade isn't a bold leader at his age...

He does really well otherwise. When he's in the lead, he'll go anywhere you point him, just reluctantly. And when I ask him to move on out at a rack, it's like his whole frame is "backward". I don't know how else to describe it. Like he's traveling forward while leaning back. Now if you put another horse in front of him, let them get out ahead a ways, then ask him to go, boy is there a difference. His gait get's 100% getter and it's like he's just floating, so I know he's got it in him. That's the aggravating part.

That is perfect. Just perfect.

I have Luke 17:1
Jesus said to his disciples: "things that cause people to sin are bound to come, but woe to that person through whom they come"

That's pretty common.... he'll get there with time and experience. Bay's a great leader now, because of his miles of endurance racing... He was reluctant and cautious before, when my friend had him. Those miles turned him into a different horse.
